In an embodiment, a method includes applying an adhesive to a top surface of a structural core board that includes a foam-core material. Further, the method continues with abuttingly contacting the structural core board to a bottom surface of a porcelain slab with the adhesive such that regions of the structural core board substantially extend beyond outer peripheries of the porcelain slab to define buffer regions, thereby to allow the buffer regions to be visible and to enhance protection from cracking when the reinforced porcelain panel product is handled. Additional features include the bottom surface of the structural core board having a second surface area larger than the first surface area of the porcelain slab and a fracture toughness greater than the porcelain slab.

The present disclosure relates generally to cladding for covering a building surface. The present disclosure relates more particularly to a method of manufacturing a building surface panel. The method includes providing a foam piece having a 30 day/23 C. residual shrinkage of no more than 0.2%. The foam piece having the 30 day/23 C. residual shrinkage of no more than 0.2% is attached to a rear side of an outer shell so as to form the building surface panel. In some embodiments, a front side of the outer shell forms a visible surface of the building surface panel. The foam piece can be provided, e.g., by aging the foam piece for a time and at a temperature such that the 30 day/23 C. residual shrinkage is no more than 0.2%. The foam piece to be aged can, in some embodiments, be cut from a body of foam.

A sports board incorporating reclaimed/reused sports board materials, and a method of making a such a sports board, allows for incorporation of portions of used (recycled) composite sports boards (or waste from the manufacture thereof) into new sports boards. This lessens the accumulation of composite sports board waste in the global environment, reduces the quantity of new virgin materials needed in the manufacture of new composite sports boards, and lessens the environmental impact of composite sports board manufacture and use. Optionally, the reclaimed sports board material may be incorporated into a new sports board in a manner providing structural enhancements (e.g., increased regional stiffness) to new sports boards. This may allow for structural enhancement while avoiding a significant increase in sports board weight, by incorporating used composite materials into new composite sports boards.
