STARCH-BASED AQUEOUS ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
The invention relates to starch-based aqueous adhesive compositions and uses thereof. Provided is an aqueous adhesive composition comprising highly branched starch (HBS) obtained by treatment of starch or starch derivatives with a glycogen branching enzyme, and further comprising a carboxymethyl (CM) polysaccharide derivative, such as a carboxymethyl ether of starch, cellulose or a combination thereof. Also provided is a method for adhering a first substrate to a second substrate, comprising applying to at least said first or said second substrate said starch-based adhesive, and a glued or glueable product obtainable thereby.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A FILTER MEDIUM, AND FILTER MEDIUM
A method for manufacturing a filter medium comprising at least two filter plies according to which at least a first filter ply has a plurality of thermoplastically deformable fibres, by means of which the at least two filter plies are joined to each other in some areas. The method comprises forming, by means of at least two rolls of a pressing tool, at least one additional joining region configured in a web-like manner in the at least two filter plies in which the at least two filter plies are joined to each other.
Disposable towel produced with large volume surface depressions
A disposable tissue or paper towel product including at least two plies, an exposed outer surface of at least one of the two plies comprising a plurality of pockets, the plurality of pockets having an average volume greater than 0.4 mm.sup.3 and an average surface area of 2.5 mm.sup.2, wherein the product is formed using a structured fabric with both a left handed and right handed twill pattern that reverses itself periodically.
System and method for the production of gypsum board using starch pellets
The present invention relates to a system and method for the production of gypsum board using starch pellets. In accordance with the present disclosure, the starch necessary for board formation is provided in the form of starch pellets. These pellets are mixed with a gypsum slurry in a mixer. The pellets are initially insoluble and do not dissolve. However, during subsequent drying stages, the pellets become soluble and dissolve into the gypsum phase. This both provides the desired starch component and also results in the formation of voids within the set gypsum.
SEGMENTED FILM ADHESIVE, METHOD OF MAKING THE ADHESIVE AND METHOD OF APPLYING THE ADHESIVE TO A NON-PLANAR SURFACE
A method of applying an adhesive to a non-planar surface. The method includes providing a segmented film adhesive. The segmented film adhesive comprises: (i) a liner; and (ii) an adhesive layer on the liner, the adhesive layer comprising a plurality of contiguous, discrete adhesive segments. The segmented film adhesive is positioned on a non-planar surface of a first adherend so that a first portion of the discrete adhesive segments are in contact with the non-planar surface and a second portion of the discrete adhesive segments are not in contact with the non-planar surface. The liner is removed from the non-planar surface, wherein only the first portion of the discrete adhesive segments remain on the non-planar surface of the first adherend.
Protein adhesives containing an anhydride, carboxylic acid, and/or carboxylate salt compound and their use
The invention provides protein adhesives, and methods of making and using such adhesives. The protein adhesives contain a protein-bonding agent and plant protein composition, such as an isolated water-soluble protein fraction or ground plant meal obtained from plant biomass. The protein-bonding agent can be an anhydride compound, carboxylic acid compound, carboxylate salt compound, or combinations thereof. The protein adhesives are useful in bonding together lignocellulosic materials and other types of materials.
Starch-based aqueous adhesive compositions and uses thereof

Provided is an aqueous adhesive composition comprising highly branched starch (HBS) obtained by treatment of starch or starch derivatives with a glycogen branching enzyme, and further comprising a carboxymethyl (CM) polysaccharide derivative, such as a carboxymethyl ether of starch, cellulose or a combination thereof. Also provided is a method for adhering a first substrate to a second substrate, comprising applying to at least said first or said second substrate said starch-based adhesive, and a glued or glueable product obtainable thereby.
PAPER CUSHIONED SHIPPING ENVELOPES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
According to some illustrative embodiments, a protective product is provided that includes: an envelope having a two-layer wall structure, the two-layer wall structure including a) a first outer paper layer, and b) a second inner paper layer, wherein the second inner paper layer includes width-wise positional variations of the side surface of the second inner sheet that cushions items placed within an inner pouch of the envelope, and forms an interior wall of the inner pouch of the envelope and directly contacts the items placed within the inner pouch of the envelope. In some preferred implementations, the width-wise positional variations of the side surface of the second inner paper layer includes pleats, undulations and/or embossments, and, preferably, the pleats, undulations and/or embossments include ridges that extend perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to an outlet of the envelope.
LAMINATES
The present invention relates to packaging materials in the form of laminates comprising a paper or paperboard substrate and a barrier film. The barrier film is based on microfibrillated cellulose. The laminate comprises a paper or paperboard substrate, wherein the substrate is in contact with a first adhesive layer, which is in contact with a second adhesive layer, which is in contact with the barrier film. The present invention also relates to methods for manufacturing such laminates.
Tape for insulation jacket and method of insulating an object
A multilayer tape assembly is described which can be used with insulation jacketing and particularly for self-sealing lap (SSL) applications. The tape assembly includes two adhesive layers with associated carrier and release layers in conjunction with a differential release system. Various methods of use are also described, including a method of insulating an object.
