SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRINTING ON A TREATED SURFACE

A method for safely differentiating a three dimensional object subsequent to its creation and varnish protection by means of applying and sealing a decoration and/or data between the original and a final varnish layers. The three dimensional object may be decorated and/or contain data from its original manufacturing process but it may also be protected by a varnish prior to utilizing this process. The method enables the addition of decoration and data at any time or location subsequent to the original manufacturing process. The process takes place on top of the original varnish and may be subsequently sealed by applying another varnish layer.

METHOD FOR INK JET DURABILITY AND ADHESION

Systems and techniques for improving ink jet ink durability and adhesion to a substrate. The techniques may include applying a varnish to the surface of the substrate, curing, in an initial curing step, the varnish with an ultraviolet (UV) lamp, and applying a pigmented ink to at least a portion of the substrate. The initial curing step may comprise pinning the varnish with the UV lamp in a low-power state. The techniques may additionally or alternatively include applying a layer of pigmented ink and varnish at substantially the same time, allowing the pigmented ink and varnish to at least partially mix, then pinning or curing the ink/varnish combination.

DECORATIVE MATERIAL HAVING EXCELLENT PRINTING PROPERTIES AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a decorative material having excellent printability, and the decorative material according to the present invention has an ink-receiving layer having a radially fine sloping structure having a dendritic shape, whereby the absorbing and/or fixing property, i.e., printability, of the ink printed on the ink-receiving layer is improved, and clarity is excellent, so that aesthetic effects are excellent. In addition, since the ink-receiving layer is manufactured through UV curing, it can be directly coated on a substrate layer, and can include various kinds of substrate layers; and since it is manufactured using a solvent-free type resin composition without using an organic solvent, and has an excellent absorbing and/or fixing property with respect to a water soluble ink, it has environmental friendly advantages.

Printing system, printing apparatus, and printed-matter production method

According to an aspect of the present invention, a printing apparatus includes a plasma treatment unit configured to acidify at least a surface of a print medium by applying plasma treatment to the surface of the print medium, a first primer applying unit configured to apply primer treatment by applying treatment liquid to the surface of the print medium having undergone the plasma treatment, and a first recording unit configured to perform recording by inkjet recording on the print medium having undergone the primer treatment.

Three-dimensional printing of a porous matrix on a container

This disclosure describes container(s) having an ultraviolet (UV)-cured matrix and methods to create the same. For example, a glass container according to this disclosure has a bottom and a body extending in a direction away from the bottom along a longitudinal axis. The body has a surface having an UV-cured matrix including UV-curable varnish drops arranged in a plurality of layers and having voids existing therebetween to form a porous matrix structure. One method to form the glass container is to apply a layer of UV-curable varnish to an outer surface of the glass container as a plurality of varnish drops, so as to establish a plurality of voids between the varnish drops, cure the layer of UV-curable varnish, apply one or more additional layers of UV-curable varnish, and cure the additional layer(s) of UV-curable varnish, wherein all of the varnish drops and the voids form the UV-cured matrix.

An ink jet recording method includes a step of forming a first image containing a first liquid and a coloring material on an ink receiving medium and a liquid absorbing step of bringing a liquid absorbing member including a porous body into contact with the first image to absorb at least some of the first liquid from the first image to form a second image.

Wet-trapping method

The present invention provides a method for applying multiple ink and/or coating layers on a substrate. At least one of the ink and/or coating layers contains one or more photoinitiators, and at least one of the ink and/or coating layers does not contain any photoinitiators. In certain embodiments, all of the ink and/or coating layers are wet trapped and the entire print construct is cured by exposure to UV radiation after all of the ink and/or coating layers have been applied. In certain embodiments, the wet trapping method of the present invention can be used to prepare laminates.
