An air treatment member, a suction motor, and the filter housing are positioned in the air flow path. The filter member includes a plurality of individual filter elements arranged in parallel, each including porous filter material having at least one upstream face and at least one portion defining a porous filter media air outlet. The at least one upstream face has a larger surface area than the at least one portion. An outside gap is provided between at least some of the upstream faces and opposed facing walls of the filter housing, and an inside gap is provided between opposed upstream faces. A cross-sectional area of the outside gaps and the inside gaps is at least as large as a cross-sectional area of an air treatment member air inlet.

Multistage cyclone and surface cleaning apparatus having same

A surface cleaning apparatus includes an air flow path, a cyclone, and an air flow passage. The air flow path extends from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet. A suction motor is positioned in the air flow path. The cyclone is positioned in the air flow path, and has a cyclone chamber, a cyclone chamber sidewall, a plurality of tangential air inlets, a cyclone air outlet, and a longitudinal cyclone axis. Air rotates in a direction of rotation in the cyclone chamber. Each tangential air inlets includes an inlet port provided in the cyclone chamber sidewall, each inlet port having an upstream edge and a downstream edge in the direction of rotation. The air flow passage extends parallel to the cyclone axis and upstream from the tangential air inlets. The air flow passage has a terminal end at which the plurality of tangential air inlets are located.

Fan for regenerative air vacuum street sweeper, and method of fan manufacture and assembly

A fan with airfoil blades is provided for a regenerative air vacuum street sweeper. The blades are formed using cut and pressed upper and lower panels which are welded at a forward edge to a rod to form the airfoil leading edge and welded at the rear edges to form the airfoil trailing edge. Pins extend laterally outwardly from the rod for mounting each blade in corresponding holes in the front and rear plates of the fan housing. The side edges of the blade are welded to the plates at a 9-11 angle of attack. The airfoil blades allow for reduced size, horse power, noise, and manufacturing and shipping costs.

Hand-held surface cleaning device

In general, the present disclosure is directed to a hand-held surface cleaning device that includes a relatively compact form-factor to allow users to store the same in a nearby location (e.g., in a drawer, in an associated charging dock, on a table top) for easy access to perform relatively small cleaning tasks that would otherwise require retrieving a full-size vacuum from storage. A hand-held surface cleaning device consistent with aspects of the present disclosure includes a body (or body portion) with a motor, power source and dust cup disposed therein. The body portion also functions as a handgrip to allow the hand-held surface cleaning device to be operated by one hand, for example.

A vacuum cleaner includes a foot assembly having a suction inlet thereon, a suction source in fluid communication with the suction inlet to produce a working airflow there through, and a dirt container in fluid communication with the suction inlet and suction source. The foot assembly further comprises a body defined by a central portion and a pair of extension arms, a rotatable agitator on each extension arm, and a drive assembly configured to counter-rotate the agitators. The counter-rotating agitators are operable to cooperate with the suction source to direct dust and debris towards the suction inlet.
