Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit configured to form a nip portion and fix a toner image to a recording material, and a speed control unit configured to control a conveyance speed of a recording material in the nip portion, wherein, in a case where glue binding is not performed, a recording material having a first basis weight is conveyed at a second speed greater than a first speed, and a recording material having a second basis weight greater, in basis weight, than the recording material having the first basis weight is conveyed at the first speed, and wherein, in a case where the glue binding is performed, the recording material having the first basis weight and the recording material having the second basis weight are conveyed at the first speed.

PRINTED BOOK PRODUCTION PLANT WITH DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES WITH ONE OR MORE BOOK BLOCK FORMING STATIONS AND ONE OR MORE COVER BINDING MACHINES AND RELATED METHOD
A production plant for books printed with digital technologies. comprising one or more forming stations of book blocks, one or more cover binding machines for assembling the book blocks with respective covers, an electronic center and a plurality of spiral towers for accommodating the book blocks of the forming stations and transfer them to the binding machines. The book blocks and the covers have respective book codes and cover codes uniquely associated with the respective books of a given working order. Each tower includes a conveyor belt that can be moved along a spiral path. a belt motorization group and an electronic control unit. The towers serve as a temporary storage for the blocks and capacity of movement between loading areas adjacent to the forming station and unloading areas adjacent to the binding machines. The electronic control units pre-set the towers to store in an optimized way along the conveyor belt the book blocks from the forming stations. to supply the binding machines with the stored book blocks and to form and memorize databases identifying the stored book blocks. The electronic center of the plant is interfaced with the electronic control units of the towers and with the binding machines for a survey of the loading data and for a functional coupling of the loaded towers with the binding machines.

Book binding assembly
A book binding assembly in the form of a stack of hardcovers for making hardcover books, with the hardcovers having pressure sensitive adhesives on both sides for securing a cover wrap onto the hardcovers. Liner sheets are disposed over the upper hardcover and intermediate the hardcovers of the stack to protect the various adhesive elements. In addition, the liner sheets possess attributes including a fold line which enable an end user to accurately apply a cover wrap to the hardcover on which the liner sheet is disposed.

DYNAMIC MISMATCH CORRECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BOOK BINDING MACHINES
Systems and methods are provided for automatically correcting book portion mismatches in a book binding operation. First sensor outputs relate to a first book portion sequence along a first assembly channel, and second book portion sequence along a second assembly channel, each leading into a book binding stage. A mismatch state between first and second book portions is predicted based on the respective sequences and a defined book assembly batch, responsive to which an intervention event is determined and executed. One such intervention event includes selective routing of the first and/or second book portion associated with predicted mismatch states into a correction channel and reinsertion of the first and/or second book portion into the respective assembly channel corresponding to a modified version of the respective sequence. In some embodiments, a further sensor may be provided at the book binding stage entry for further confirmation/control feedback regarding matched book portions.
