Nanostructured Surfaces
The present invention is directed to methods for inhibiting growth of bacteria and to nanometer scale surfaces having antibacterial properties.
System for Laser Finishing of Garments
Software and lasers are used in finishing apparel to produce a desired wear pattern or other design. A technique includes determining a fabric's response to a laser, capturing an initial image of a wear pattern on a garment, and processing the initial image to obtain a working image in grayscale. The working image is further processed to obtain a difference image by comparing each pixel relative to a dark reference. The difference image is converted to a laser values image by using the previously determined fabric response to the laser.
Method for producing a multi-decoration and/or multicoloured horological component having a ceramic structure
Method for producing an external horological element (100) which is a heterogeneous component, according to which a primary cavity (10) is produced in a structure (1), only the periphery of this said primary cavity (10) is re-machined or laser machined, which primary cavity (10) is filled with a second material that is different in appearance from the first material in order to produce a primary insert (2), where the bottom of this said primary cavity (10) is left rough before being filled with said second material, and, in the thickness of this primary insert (2), a secondary cavity (20) is produced, which is filled with a third material that is different in appearance from the first material and/or from the second material in order to produce a secondary insert (3).
Methods and apparatus for controlling plasma in a plasma processing system
Methods and apparatus for processing a substrate in a multi-frequency plasma processing chamber are disclosed. The base RF signal pulses between a high power level and a low power level. Each of the non-base RF generators, responsive to a control signal, proactively switches between a first predefined power level and a second predefined power level as the base RF signal pulses. Alternatively or additionally, each of the non-base RF generators, responsive to a control signal, proactively switches between a first predefined RF frequency and a second predefined RF frequency as the base RF signal pulses. Techniques are disclosed for ascertaining in advance of production time the first and second predefined power levels and/or the first and second predefined RF frequencies for the non-base RF signals.

Decorative component and method for manufacturing the same
Provided is a method for manufacturing a component provided with a decoration by laser light. The method includes sequentially irradiating a target region in a surface of the component with laser light so as to draw decorative patterns in an overlaid manner, each decorative pattern being composed of a plurality of lines.
METHODS FOR DECORATING A TRANSLUCENT CONTAINER
A method for decorating a translucent container including cleaning an exterior surface of the container and applying a silver layer to the exterior surface followed by a black layer applied over the silver layer. Portions of the silver and black layers are selectively removed to form one or more shapes using a laser. A translucent protective layer is applied over the entire exterior of the container.
