Aero ring inserts for wheel aerodynamics

An air deflection ring that is configured to be attached to a wheel of a motor vehicle that includes a barrel including a cylindrical inner surface and an opposing cylindrical outer surface, a plurality of spokes that are each separated by an opening and attach the barrel to a center of the wheel. The air deflection ring includes a cylindrical mounting ring that is configured to be fixed to the cylindrical inner surface of the barrel, and an air deflection flange that extends radially inwardly toward the center of the wheel from the cylindrical mounting ring. The cylindrical mounting ring is configured to be fixed to the cylindrical inner surface of the barrel at a location positioned immediately adjacent to the plurality of spokes, and the air deflection flange is configured to direct a flow of air away from the openings during rotation of the wheel.

A rim assembly for a bicycle wheel is disclosed. The rim assembly comprises: a rim configured to receive a rim component in an external surface thereof, and; a rim component located in the external surface of the rim, wherein the rim component forms part of the external surface of the rim, and wherein; the rim component has a lower density than the rim. A rim, insertable rim component and methods of manufacturing such a rim assembly are also disclosed.

The hub cap assembly also includes at least one tire stem port disposed on the disc. Moreover, the rim comprises a cavity that receives balance media. In some embodiments, the hub cap assembly further comprises cooling fins, e.g., disposed about a circumference of the top surface. The cooling fins can direct cooling air to a corresponding tire, e.g., to cool a bead of the tire.

For instance, a locking member can be provided adjacent to each port. In use, each locking member constrains radial movement of a corresponding fastener cap inserted into the associated port, by disposing a projecting member into a space between adjacent cog members on the base of the corresponding fastener cap.

A beadlock to secure a tire to a wheel. The beadlock comprises a first grip element and a second grip element. The first grip element is welded to the outer rim of a wheel. A bead of the tire is positioned over the first grip element. The second grip element has a plurality of rib elements angularly spaced around its periphery. The second grip element is secured to the first grip element such that the ribs grip the bead to hold it in place and secure the tire to the wheel.
