An improved snap-on automotive wheel cover overlay and method for manufacturing the same, comprising a rigid polymer hook-shaped member extending from an upper end of a flange, wherein said flange is protruding from the rear inward area side of the wheel cover overlay of the present invention and protruding continuously along a right-rigid polymer longitudinal portion and a rigid-right polymer upper arm edge which form a geometric orientation that permits the flanges of the wheel cover overlay of the present invention when inserted into through holes bearing the corresponding shapes of said flanges to firmly attached to a rear surface area of a manufacturer's or aftermarket's wheel cover when snapped into place; and protruding continuously along a left-rigid polymer longitudinal portion and a left-rigid polymer upper arm edge which form a geometric orientation that permits flanges of the wheel cover overlay of the present invention when inserted into through holes bearing the corresponding shapes of said flanges to firmly attach to the rear surface of a manufacturer's or after market's wheel cover when snapped into place. In addition, a three dimensional (3D) scanned imaging of the individual embodiment component parts is generated, after rigorous testing, and is transferred to an injection molding computer to generate the injection molding designed precisely corresponding to each individual component parts of the present invention.

Implementations disclosed and claimed herein provide a wheel cover system. In one implementation, an inward force exerted against a wheel cover of the wheel cover assembly in an inward direction towards the hub is received. The inward force overcomes a spring bias of a spring of the receiver and translates the wheel cover assembly in the inward direction. A first rotational force rotating the wheel cover assembly in a first direction is received. The first post guides and engages the first hook, and the second post guides and engages the second hook during rotation. A first positive feedback is generated in response to the inward force and the first rotational force. The wheel cover assembly is releaseably locked to the receiver by translating the wheel cover assembly in the outward direction using an outward force generated by the spring bias. The outward force provides a second positive feedback.

In other embodiments, an adapter has a body adapted to be inserted within the center aperture of the wheel. A posterior support registers with the adapter and is sandwiched between a rotor of the vehicle and the wheel to secure the adapter inside the aperture of the wheel; a removable wheel center cap registers with the adapter to adorn the wheel.

The mounting head (1) includes a support element (5), which is radially displaceable relative to the wheel rim (4) and on which a feeler element (6) is axially movably arranged, the feeler element (6) having a convex contact surface (14) and a receptacle (12) for at least one balancing weight (2), said receptacle being oriented towards the inner side (3). The mounting head (1) is configured in such a way that the contact surface (14) may be brought into contact with a boundary surface (18) of the inner side (3), and may be displaced along said boundary surface until the balancing weight (2) comes radially into contact with the mounting surface (17).
