A tire bar having an elongated body 11. A traction section 12 is disposed at a first end of the elongated body 11. The traction section 12 is configured to be mounted over a tire tread on a vehicle wheel. The traction section 12 has an inner surface 14 configured to contact the treads of a wheel and an outer traction surface 2 configured to contact a driving surface. The inner surface 14 opposes the outer traction surface 2. A lug contact section 16 has a lug connector 1 configured to contact at least one lug nut on a wheel. The lug contact section 16 is configured to be movable along a length of the elongated body 11 to vary a distance between the lug section 16 and the traction section 12. A locking structure 4 is configured to lock the lug contact section 16 at a position on the elongated body 11. A method of unsticking a vehicle by rotating a wheel having the tire bar connected to the wheel.

The present invention relates to a novel snow chain device for providing good traction to a vehicle tire on a snowy surface. The device is capable of being removably mounted on the tire with reduced physical effort and in multiple configurations. The device can be used in modular fashion and a range of patterns and configurations making it suitable for use on different tires as well as under varying driving conditions. Also it is possible to cover the entire surface of the tire as well as a partial surface. The device comprises of a plurality of link members and a plurality of base members. The base members can be affixed to the external tire surface and the link members can be removably secured to the base members.

A contact patch pressure reducing rubber region 7 is disposed at a location between belt 61 and base nibber layer 51. The modulus of contact patch pressure reducing rubber region 7 is lower than the modulus of base rubber layer 51 and is lower than the modulus of cap rubber layer 52.

A tire traction assembly for mounting upon a tire. The assembly includes a plurality of cables with brackets at opposing ends which are each in a pivoting engagement with the cables. A toothed member is attached to a first of the two brackets and configured for engagement with a ratchet mechanism attached to the second of the brackets to releasably secure the tire traction assembly around the tire. A plurality of traction cables configured to traverse the rolling surface of the tire are located in-between the brackets. The brackets may include a planar tread plate which has opposing planar side surfaces configuring the brackets to a U-shape.

A cover is made of a flexible material and configured to be mounted over the sleeve and the tire/wheel assembly of the vehicle. A lubricant is arranged between the sleeve and the cover. The cover rotates relative to the sleeve and the tire/wheel assembly to allow the vehicle to be moved.
