Vehicle with ionizing unit for cleaning air to cabin
A vehicle is provided including a cabin, a conduit arranged to conduct a flow of air from outside the vehicle to the cabin, and a filter unit arranged to filter at least a portion of the flow of air before it enters the cabin. Further, an ionizing unit is arranged in the conduit upstream of the filter unit as seen in the direction of the flow of air so as to charge particles present in the flow of air and transmit at least a major part of the charged particles towards the filter unit. The at least one collector electrode has a tube-like shape arranged to conduct at least a portion of the flow of air, and the at least one emitter electrode is arranged at a central axis of the tube-like shaped collector electrode, whereby a more uniform ionization field is provided.

The present invention has an object to reduce a risk of performance degradation caused to an ion generating device that is being manufactured. An ion generating device (1) includes: a discharge electrode (21) for generating ions by electric discharge, the discharge electrode having (i) a mounting part (33a) for mounting the discharge electrode on the ion generating device and (ii) a brush part including a plurality of linear electrically conductive members, and the mounting part (33a) binding a base end part of the brush part so as to hold the base end part, the ion generating device further including: an insulating sealing member (41) with which to seal the base end part of the mounting part (33a); and a protective resin (29) with which to cover at least a brush base end surface (25t).

An ion generating device (1) includes: a discharge electrode (21,22), protruding from a surface of the ion generating device, for generating ions by electric discharge, the discharge electrode having (i) a tip part (31) including a brush-like electrically conductive member and (ii) a base end part (33) to which the brush-like electrically conductive member is attached, and the base end part protruding from the surface of the ion generating device for a length (L2) that is longer than a length (L1) of the tip part.
Air filtration system and method for a HVAC unit in a transport compartment
Air filtration systems and methods for HVAC units in transport compartments are provided. The air filtration systems and methods described herein use electrostatic forces to capture airborne particles and include a modular design so as to be configured to the space requirements of the transport compartment and reduce air flow resistance. The air filtration system includes one or more modular filtration units. Each of the modular filtration units includes a pre-filter section, an ionizing section and a collecting section.
Methods and systems for decontaminating aircraft cabins and providing indications for safe reentry
Described herein are methods and systems for decontaminating aircraft cabins and providing an indication to provide confidence that the cabins are safe for reentry post-operation. These methods and systems are based on reducing concentrations of infectious agents inside a cabin utilizing outside air and/or filtered air. In some examples, a method is performed after a certain contamination event (e.g., a sick person present on a flight and/or as a part of periodic service (e.g., in between flights. The amount of time the system is run to introduce compounds into the cabin is specifically calculated to lower the fraction of the remaining infectious agents below a certain desired level, thereby reducing the contamination concentration in the cabin from the initial concentration. The decontamination duration depends on the cabin volume and the incoming airflow rates. For example, the fraction of the remaining is brought below 5% after 9 minutes of flowing incoming air at 20 air changes per hour.
AIR FILTERING SYSTEM
A filtering system for filtering air is provided, which contains a filter for filtering particles out of the air and an ionizer that contains at least one electrode assembly upstream of the filter. An improved and longer filtering effect is obtained in that at least one of the electrode assemblies generates a negative corona discharge in a first operating mode, and at least one of the electrode assemblies generates a positive corona discharge in a second operating mode. An air conditioner and a vehicle that has such a filtering system is provided.

A filtering system for filtering air is provided, which contains a filter and an electrode assembly downstream of the filter that contains an electrode and a counter electrode for an ionizer, between which there is a voltage for generating a corona discharge when in operation. An improved and lasting filtering effect is obtained in that the counter electrode is connected electrically to the filter in the reactivation mode. An electrification apparatus is used for electric dust collection in an air conditioner for a vehicle. The electrification apparatus includes a frame, a conductive microfiber, and a conductive plate. The frame includes a main body frame in which the conductive plate is installed and an installation frame that defines a fixing groove in which the conductive microfiber is installed. The electrification apparatus further includes a rubber coupled with the conductive microfiber and inserted into the fixing groove.

An electrostatic atomization system for a vehicle includes an electrostatic atomization device that generates and emits charged micro-particle water from an emission port, a vehicle interior introduction port arranged in an instrument panel in a vehicle interior, and a communication duct that connects the emission port and the vehicle interior introduction port to emit the charged micro-particle water from the vehicle interior introduction port to the vehicle interior. The communication duct includes a first curved portion, which is arranged between the emission port and the vehicle interior introduction port and curved downward in a lower position than the vehicle interior introduction port, and a second curved portion, which is arranged between the first curved portion and the emission port and curved upward in an upper position than the first curved portion.
Cabin air filter
An apparatus and a method are provided for a cabin air filter to remove airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds from a passenger compartment of a vehicle. The cabin air filter includes a supportive frame configured to suitably orient the cabin air filter within a ventilation system of the vehicle. The supportive frame having a shape and size suitable for supporting the cabin air filter within the ventilation system. A filter medium is retained within the supportive frame and configured to remove the airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds from air flowing through the ventilation system. The filter medium electrostatically attracts and agglomerates contaminants within the air flowing through the air filter. In some embodiments, the filter medium includes fibers treated with antimicrobial molecules configured to destroy microbes. In some embodiments, the filter medium includes fibrous materials configured to release a fragrance into the passenger compartment.
