Vehicle drive system for a self-propelled trailer

A vehicle drive system is provided and generally includes a hub assembly, a drive assembly and a clutch assembly. The hub assembly having wheel hub upon which a wheel assembly is secured. The drive assembly is configured to selectively transmit a motive force to cause the hub to turn. The drive assembly includes a motor with a rotatable motor output shaft, a transmission assembly connected to the motor and receiving in the rotatable motor output shaft into an input opening therein, and a driveshaft connected to an output from the transmission assembly. The clutch assembly connected to the hub assembly and engagebale to the driveshaft.

Independent suspension system

An independent suspension system includes a wheel knuckle engaged with a wheel and configured to be rotated in response to a steering input; a motor assembly disposed at one end of the wheel knuckle and configured to rotate the wheel knuckle; an upper arm engaged with the motor assembly; a lower arm having a first end engaged with a vehicle body and a second end engaged with the wheel knuckle; a connection arm configured to be engaged with the upper arm; a rotation pin disposed at a connection portion between the upper arm and the connection arm to enable integral rotation of the upper arm and the connection arm; and a shock absorber disposed between the connection arm and the lower arm and engaged with the connection arm so as to be perpendicular to the connection arm.

A lubricant supported electric motor assembly includes an electric motor module, a shifting and first stage module, and a final drive module sequentially operably interconnected with one another for producing drive torque that is ultimately conducted to a wheel of a vehicle. The electric motor module includes a stator and a rotor defining an internal rotor cavity. The shifting and first stage module is disposed within the internal rotor cavity and includes a first planetary gear reducer assembly and an output gear selectively coupleable to said first planetary gear reducer assembly. The final drive module is disposed adjacent the shifting and first stage module and includes a second planetary gear reducer assembly operably coupled with the output gear. A shifting mechanism establishes selective coupling between the first planetary gear assembly and the output gear to transfer adjustable torque from the shifting and first stage module to the final drive device.

The corner module apparatus includes processors configured to obtain a steering angle, obtain a lever ratio indicating whether a front wheel and a rear wheel of a bicycle model defined with respect to a vehicle are inphase or reverse-phased and indicating a steering angle ratio. The corner module apparatus also includes a controller configured to calculate a front wheel heading angle of the bicycle model from the steering angle, calculate a rear wheel heading angle of the bicycle model based on the calculated front wheel heading angle and the lever ratio, calculate first to fourth target angles of a left front wheel, a right front wheel, a left rear wheel, and a right rear wheel of the vehicle by expanding the bicycle model to a four-wheel vehicle model, and independently control steering of each of the four wheels.

An air chamber is formed between the pivot-pin element and the hydraulic apparatus, the air chamber is connected to a distribution passage formed in the hydraulic apparatus. An axle passage is formed in the pivot-pin element so as to form a pneumatic passage between the pivot-pin element and the hydraulic apparatus.

The in-wheel motor unit includes an electric motor that serves as a rotational driving source of the wheel. The shock absorber is coupled to the in-wheel motor unit. The shock absorber is a component of a vehicle suspension. A lower end portion of the shock absorber is fastened to a vehicle center side, in a vehicle width direction, of a motor part so as to be pressed against the motor part outward from the vehicle in the vehicle width direction. The motor part is a part in which the electric motor of the in-wheel motor unit is built.

The rotor of an electric motor unit has a web portion partially enclosing the remainder of the unit and terminating in a circumferentially extending rim. The brake drum defines an engagement surface for drum brake linings, and has an outboard end defining a flange securable to the wheel hub. The brake drum also includes an open inboard end, partly covered over by a dust guard, and a circumferential wall extending between the outboard and inboard ends and surrounding the engagement surface. By way of keys and slots or recesses, a reinforcing ring interlocks the circumferentially extending rim of the web portion and the circumferential brake drum wall. The reinforcing ring is secured to the circumferentially extending rim and to the wall of the brake drum at a location disposed axially between the rim of the web portion and the brake drum lining engagement surface.
