An instrument cluster is provided with a display panel having a plurality of graphic areas and with a backlighting device arranged behind the display panel for backlighting the graphic areas. The backlighting device has at least one light source and at least one light-guide element, which is provided with a receiving portion facing the light source for directly receiving a light beam and with at least one transmitting portion for transmitting and guiding the light towards at least one of the graphic areas. A cover is provided for shielding rays of light passing through the receiving portion and directed onto the display panel. The cover defines a channel, which has an inlet facing the receiving portion and at least one outlet facing one of the graphic areas. The channel is shaped in such a way as to transmit light indirectly from its inlet to its outlet.

There is provided a vehicle display device capable of simplifying a configuration for a passenger. A ring member is provided to be closer to the front side (opposite to the passenger) than a half mirror, and thus the configuration for the passenger can be further simplified than the half mirror, thereby achieving a simple appearance. The ring member is visually confirmed through the half mirror thereby to display the ring member and an image in combination like a configuration in which a decorative member is provided to be closer to the passenger than the display as conventionally.

An automotive vehicle includes a cabin, a controller, and a multi-view display. The multi-view display has a first side facing the cabin and a second side facing the exterior of the vehicle. The multi-view display has a first-side display screen, a second-side display screen, and a blocking layer disposed between the first-side display screen and the second-side display screen. The first-side display screen and the second-side display screen are in communication with the controller and operable to display a first pattern on the first-side display screen and a second pattern, distinct from the first pattern, on the second-side display screen.

A display device for a motor vehicle having at least one annular gauge (1) and a display panel (2) having a display surface (20) intended to be oriented toward the inside of a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The device comprises a transparent pane (4) positioned facing the display surface (20) and serving as a support for the annular gauge (1).

A method and apparatus for imaging occupants are provided. The apparatus includes a reflective surface; an imaging sensor configured to capture an image of the reflective surface; and a controller configured to process the captured image and control to perform a function based on the captured image. The method and apparatus may be implemented in a vehicle to detect occupant movement and behavior.

A vehicle display device includes a display unit having a pointer, a dial plate as a background of the pointer, and a frame surrounding the dial plate, at least one of the pointer, the dial plate, and the frame being a physical element, and a virtual image display device that displays a virtual image overlapping with the physical element, in which the virtual image display device changes at least one of a color and a design of the virtual image overlapping with the physical element.
