An apparatus for classifying a passenger in a vehicle includes a seat cushion for a seat in the vehicle, the seat cushion having an adult detection area and a child detection area. A first chamber is disposed in the adult detection area and a second chamber is disposed in the child detection area. A margin improvement unit includes a pressure sensor configured to measure a first pressure based on a first weight applied to the first chamber and a second pressure based on a second weight applied to the second chamber. The margin improvement unit is configured to output a first adjusted pressure value based on the first pressure and a second adjusted pressure value based on the second pressure. The first adjusted pressure value is greater than the second adjusted pressure value when the first weight is substantially equal to the second weight.
Car seat occupant detection and alert apparatus, system, and method
A car seat occupant detection system for a car seat installed in a vehicle is provided. The system includes at least one harness sensor for detecting whether connectors of a car seat harness are connected and a weight sensor for detecting the weight of an occupant in the car seat. The system includes a controller in communication with the at least one harness sensor and the weight sensor. The system includes a transceiver configured to selectively communicate with a driver device via a local wireless link and with a third party device via a wide area wireless link. The controller determines whether or not an occupant in the car seat has been abandoned by a driver based on detections of the at least one harness sensor, the weight sensor, and communication range status between the transceiver and the driver communication device via the local wireless link.
SAFETY SEAT
A safety seat is provided, including a seat base and a seat back. The seat back includes a framework adjustable in shape and a covering part covering the framework and made of flexible material. A surface of the covering part is provided with multiple sensors for obtaining back position information of a person sitting on the safety seat. The safety seat further includes a data processing device and a driving structure. The data processing device is for receiving the back position information, determine a shape of a back surface of the person and send a covering part adjustment signal. The driving structure is for adjusting a shape of the framework according to the covering part adjustment signal and changing a shape of the surface of the covering part by changing the shape of the framework so as to match the shape of the back surface of the person.

Provided is a child restraint system (CRS) with automated installation that provides automated feedback and control of seat installation angle, belt latching and tightening, and confirmation of correct install. The CRS utilizes sensors to monitor CRS base angle relative to level, confirm correct latching of the CRS to its base and then to the vehicle seat, and confirm tightening of the belts to the required tension to be crashworthy. SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO SAFELY TRANSPORT PASSENGERS
Systems and methods to safely transport passengers are described. The system broadcasts over a network, to at least one forward operating base, (FOB) a request for linkage. The system is located in a vehicle that travels on land and is utilized for bidirectional communication with a first system unit type for detecting the presence of a passenger in the vehicle and a second system unit type for communicating different alert types. The first system unit type includes a first child seat control unit and the second system unit type includes at least one FOB including a first FOB. The system receives and registers the first FOB as being linked and receives an occupant present message from the first child seat. The system identifies a temperature inside the vehicle as exceeding a predetermined threshold and communicates a temperature alert message to the first FOB.
Vehicular Safety Device
A device which detects a child presence in a car seat and communicates an audible and mobile-device reminder to the driver that a child occupant is in the seat is disclosed. The system utilizes internal sensors to monitor various vehicle occupancy conditions to determine when a triggering event has occurred while the car seat occupancy sensor is engaged. The system and method include retrieving a weather forecast for an area in which the vehicle is located and estimating a future temperature of the passenger compartment in response to determining that the drive system of the vehicle has been shut off and that the driver has exited the vehicle, the method determines whether an occupant remains in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The future temperature of the passenger compartment is a temperature of the passenger compartment of the vehicle after a lapse of a predetermined time period. In response to determining that the estimated future temperature is outside of the predetermined temperature range send a warning to the computing device.
