ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT FOR OPHTHALMIC SURGERY
20230118392 · 2023-04-20 ·

A surgical instrument comprises an elongate probe, in which the probe comprises an endoscope and a treatment channel. In some embodiments, the endoscope comprises a lens, in which the treatment channel extends through the distal end of the lens, which can facilitate alignment of the probe with a target tissue. In some embodiments, the treatment channel and the endoscope may comprise a co-axial configuration, which can decrease parallax when a user views the distal end of the working channel and target tissue beyond the distal end. Alternatively, the probe may comprise lenses arranged to provide stereoscopic vision of the end of the probe. The treatment channel may comprise an optical fiber to deliver light energy or a working channel. The treatment channel may comprise a housing such as a tube extending from the endoscope, in which the endoscope is configured to image the end of the treatment channel.

Minimally invasive surgical system

A surgical system comprises a manipulator arm, configured to secure to a base, and an actuator assembly. The actuator assembly includes an instrument mounting bracket and a plurality of actuator disks supported on a first end of the instrument mounting bracket. The surgical system also includes a surgical instrument including a plurality of interface disks supported on a face of the surgical instrument. The plurality of interface disks is configured to mate with the plurality of actuator disks. The instrument also includes an attachment mechanism configured to removably attach the surgical instrument to the actuator assembly and an instrument body tube extending from the face of the surgical instrument. The instrument body tube is capable of passing by or passing through the instrument mounting bracket when the surgical instrument is attached to the instrument mounting bracket.

ENDOSCOPE DESIGNS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE

Various embodiments comprise endoscopes (e.g., arthroscopes) for viewing inside a cavity of a body. The endoscopes may include a tip, at least one solid-state emitter such as light emitting diode (LED), located at the distal end of the endoscope, an elongated member. The elongated member may include a plurality of lenses for transmitting light received from the tip member and an elongated conducting member for providing electric power to the solid-state emitter. The elongated conducting member may include conducting lines embedded in a flexible elongated insulating membrane. The tip member and the elongated member may be configured to dissipate heat generated by the solid-state emitter.
