Encapsulated components of medical devices, and methods therefor
A distal end portion of a medical device may comprise an image capturing component; a light source; and an encapsulation having inner surfaces contacting and at least partially encompassing the image capturing component and the light source. A shape of the inner surfaces may be mirror image of a shape of exterior surfaces of the image capturing component and the light source that are contacted by the inner surfaces.
Speckle removal in a pulsed fluorescence imaging system
Speckle removal in a pulsed fluorescence imaging system is described. A system includes a coherent light source for emitting pulses of coherent light, a fiber optic bundle connected to the coherent light source, and a vibrating mechanism attached to the fiber optic bundle. The system includes and an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of coherent light emitted by the coherent light source comprises electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength from about 770 nm to about 790 nm.
Image processing systems and methods of using the same
A method of generating a color image using a monochromatic image sensor. The method includes sequentially illuminating a surface in a plurality of colors, one color at a time. The monochromatic image sensor captures a plurality of image frames of the surface based on the plurality of colors. The plurality of image frames are identified, and at least one feature in the target of the plurality of image frames is highlighted. Color intensities of the plurality of image frames are normalized. A color intensity map of the target for each of the plurality of image frames is generated. A correlation score is determined by comparing each color intensity map of the plurality of image frames. The color image is generated based on the correlation score.
Imaging module
An imaging module includes an imaging element including a light receiving surface, an electrode surface on a side opposite to the light receiving surface, and imaging element electrodes formed on the electrode surface, a substrate including a first surface, a second surface on a side opposite to the first surface, and a first end surface facing the electrode surface, a cable portion having a conductor electrically connected to the imaging element electrodes via a wire on the substrate, a sealing resin that covers at least the first surface and the second surface, and an identification resin attached to a portion of the sealing resin on the first surface or a portion of the sealing resin on the second surface.
OPTICAL COMPONENTS FOR ENDOSCOPE COMPANION DEVICES
A coupler device for an endoscope that includes a main body having a proximal end configured to attach to the distal end portion of the endoscope, and a protective cover to reduce the ingress of debris, fluid, bacteria, or other unwanted matter from the working end of the endoscope which could lead to infection and decreased performance of the scope. The coupler device further includes a visualization section on the main body between the camera lens and light source of the endoscope and the target site within the patient. The visualization section includes one or more optical components configured to reduce an amount of reflected light from the surface and/or to inhibit condensation of water droplets on the surface. Reducing the glare and/or fogging of the visualization section significantly improves the surgeon's view of the target site through the optical coupler.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COLOUR IMAGING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE
A device for determining the surface topology and associated color of a structure, such as a teeth segment, includes a scanner for providing depth data for points along a two-dimensional array substantially orthogonal to the depth direction, and an image acquisition means for providing color data for each of the points of the array, while the spatial disposition of the device with respect to the structure is maintained substantially unchanged. A processor combines the color data and depth data for each point in the array, thereby providing a three-dimensional color virtual model of the surface of the structure. A corresponding method for determining the surface topology and associate color of a structure is also provided.
HIGH RESOLUTION MICROENDOSCOPE EMPLOYING DIFFERENTIAL STRUCTURED ILLUMINATION AND METHOD OF USING SAME
A high-resolution microendoscope system includes a light source, a fiber optic bundle configured to transmit light from the light source to a sample, a disc configured to receive light returned from the sample, the disc having spaced apart segments, the spaced-apart segments being at least one of openings and transparent portions, a first camera configured to capture a first image based at least in part on light passing through the disc, and a second camera configured to capture a second image based at least in part on light reflected from the disc.
ENDOSCOPIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISPLAYING AN ADAPTIVE OVERLAY
The present disclosure is directed towards a video display system and an endoscopic system configured to provide the surgeon with an optimized video image based upon user preference. The video display system includes a first video image displaying a white light video of a surgical site. The first video image has a first predetermined area. A second video image is overlaid on the first video image. The second video image is displayed in a fluorescent light video. The second video image is centered on the surgical site and includes a second predetermined area. The second predetermined area is smaller than the first predetermined area so as to define a boundary of white light video. Thus, the video display system provides the surgeon with the ability to reference the location of the fluorescent light video with respect to anatomical features of the surgical site.
MEDICAL OPTICAL SYSTEM, DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM, COMPUTER PROGRAM, AND NON-VOLATILE COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM
The invention relates to a medical optical system. The medical optical system comprises: —a microendoscope (3) for capturing histological images, each of which displays a microscopic tissue section (16) of a macroscopic tissue region (15) with a tumor (23); and—a classification device (31) for classifying the macroscopic tissue sections (16) displayed in the histological images as at least one respective tissue section that represents the tumor (23) or a tissue section that represents healthy tissue and for outputting a classification result for each classified microscopic tissue section (16). The medical optical system additionally comprises a combination device (37) which generates a macroscopic classification image (43) by combining the classification results, said classification image representing the location of the tumor (23) in the macroscopic tissue region (15).
