A system for illuminating an area around a motor vehicle, having: a pair of radar systems and a pair of lighting systems mounted on the motor vehicle; a vehicle level sensor configured to detect changes in pitch or roll of the motor vehicle; and an illumination control system in the motor vehicle. The illumination control system includes a key fob communication system and determines the location of a person by detecting the person approaching the motor vehicle by detecting the presence of the key fob while also detecting the location of the person with a radar system mounted on the vehicle. Next, when the location of the person has been determined, the illumination system lights up the area the person is standing while following movement of the person with the radar system to continuously re-directing the illumination towards the location on the ground where the person is standing as the person moves.

The present disclosure relates to a motor vehicle having a control device and at least one lighting device, which comprises several light-emitting diodes arranged to be distributed within at least one surface, wherein at least one signal light can be generated by means of the lighting device. The control device is designed to individually control the light-emitting diodes and/or several groups of the light-emitting diodes such that a contour of the signal light is dependent upon at least one item of operational information. The at least one item of operational information is at least one item of driver assistance information which describes a current operating situation and/or a current vehicle environment situation of the motor vehicle and which can be generated by means of a driver assistance system of the motor vehicle, and/or at least one item of user action information which can be generated by means of at least one operating device of the motor vehicle by a user.

INFORMATION PRESENTATION DEVICE

A human machine interface is configured to select an information display destination from among a plurality of display areas. The HCU acquires a sight line direction of a driver based on an image of an in-vehicle camera. The HCU displays, upon detecting a hop-off action of the driver based on an output signal of an in-vehicle sensor in a situation in which an attention target event such as a puddle, a step, other vehicle or the like exists on a road surface near a door of a driver's seat, in the display area corresponding to the driver's sight line direction, text or an image practically indicating (a) a content of an attention target event or (b) how to deal with a situation.
