11672416 · 2023-06-13 · ·

A device for use in the treatment of hemorrhoids. The device includes an elongated tube-shaped element that includes a forward end and an aft end. The aft end provides access to the interior of the tube-shaped element. The tube-shaped element extends along a longitudinal axis L and includes at least one opening formed between the forward and aft end. The device includes an anal mucosa support device removably arranged within the tube shape element. The support device includes at least two cavities to receive anal mucosa. At least one needle guide structure is formed in the elongated tube-shaped element and the anal mucosa support device such that at least one needle is capable of being guided during movement within the tube-shaped element across the at least two cavities in the anal mucosa support device to a position where the needle extends across the opening in the tube-shaped element.

PRESSURE AUGMENTED SCOPING PROCEDURE PADDLES

The instance pressure paddles decrease the physical stress on healthcare providers. It allows healthcare professionals to apply focused, even pressure on the human lower abdomen while rotating positions during a colonoscopy procedure. The device can reduce injury to both providers and patients. The device allows procedure times to become more predictable which in turn improves scheduling for patients and teams performing the procedure.

Multi-shield spinal access system

An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.

Rapid Evaporative Ionisation Mass Spectrometry ("REIMS") and Desorption Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry ("DESI-MS") Analysis of Swabs and Biopsy Samples

A method is disclosed comprising providing a biological sample on a swab, directing a spray of charged droplets onto a surface of the swab in order to generate a plurality of analyte ions, and analysing the analyte ions.

Classification of polyps using learned image analysis

Computational techniques are applied to video images of polyps to extract features and patterns from different perspectives of a polyp. The extracted features and patterns are synthesized using registration techniques to remove artifacts and noise, thereby generating improved images for the polyp. The generated images of each polyp can be used for training and testing purposes, where a machine learning system separates two types of polyps.

ENDOSCOPIC METHOD AND DEVICE

Disclosed are methods for performing endoscopy comprising directing a distal end of an endoscope to proximity of a portion of a surface of a bodily cavity; and directing a liquid-gas stream at a portion of the surface of the bodily cavity. Disclosed are also devices useful in endoscopy, comprising: an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end; a nozzle at the distal end; a gas channel configured for conveying a gas from the proximal end to the nozzle; and a liquid channel configured for conveying a liquid from the proximal end to the nozzle, wherein the nozzle is configured to generate a liquid-gas stream directed in a specified direction from a gas conveyed by the gas channel and a liquid conveyed by the liquid channel.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING MATERIAL FROM WITHIN A MAMMALIAN CAVITY USING AN INSERTABLE ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT

An endoscope for removing tissue at a surgical site includes an elongated tubular body insertable within a mammalian cavity of a patient. An instrument channel extends between a first opening at a distal end and a second opening at a proximal end of the tubular body and is sized and configured to receive a surgical cutting assembly that includes an aspiration channel configured to remove material entering the endoscope via a distal end of the surgical cutting assembly. A torque generation component configured to generate torque is positioned within the distal end and configured to provide the generated torque to a coupling component. The coupling component is positioned at the distal end of the elongated tubular member and configured to actuate a cutting component of the surgical cutting assembly responsive to actuation of the torque generation component.

AN ARTICULATED BENDING SECTION BODY FOR AN INSERTION ENDOSCOPE

An endoscope with an articulated bending section body (1) including a number of segments including a proximal segment (2), a distal segment (3) and a number of intermediate segments (4, 4′, 4i) arranged between the proximal segment (2) and the distal segment (3). Each intermediate segment (4, 4′, 4i) comprises at least one through passage for a pull-wire (7). The intermediate segments include (4, 4′, 4i) at least one interface segment (4i) adapted to receive and retain the distal end of a tube (8) surrounding the at least one pull-wire (7).
