Quick Release Buckle
20210031721 · 2021-02-04 ·

Quick Release Buckle (QRB) is an automated seatbelt system. QRB utilizes a power source and control unit software incorporated into pre-existing components within the vehicle's transmission or by micro-switch. QRB automatically disengages the seatbelt upon placing the vehicle in park, regardless of the ignition setting for law enforcement/military vehicles. While in park, an electrical signal energizes a solenoid releasing the buckle. The control unit contains proprietary software that records every engage/disengage of the seatbelt. Electronic records can be downloaded at any time, using an integrated micro-scan disk (SD) module/card. During a collision, the system ceases to record activity, showing electronic proof the seatbelt was engaged/disengaged. Civilian application includes accident investigations, insurance inquiries, and private company regulation compliance. Civilian QRB differs slightly as the transmission must be placed in park and the ignition must be in off for system operation.

Occupant position detection

A computing device in a vehicle can be programmed to receive an occupant position measurement from at least one of an acoustic and a light sensor, determine an estimated occupant size based on occupant weight, estimate a vehicle seat position based on the occupant position measurement, and, control a vehicle occupant safety device based on the estimated occupant size and estimated vehicle seat position.

Passenger receptacle for an amusement ride, method for operating such a passenger receptacle, and amusement ride having such a passenger receptacle
20200216013 · 2020-07-09 ·

The invention relates to a passenger receptacle for an amusement ride (50), comprising a receiving portion (12) for receiving a passenger, a retaining device (20), which is adjustable between an open position, in which the access to the receiving portion (12) is possible for the passenger, and a closed position, in which the received passenger is held in the receiving portion (12), and a securing device (26), which interacts with the retaining device (20) in such a way that whenever the retaining device moves away, or wants to move away, from the closed position by a selectable degree, a further movement of the retaining device away from the closed position is blocked. The invention further relates to a method for operating such a passenger receptacle (10) and to an amusement ride (50) having such a passenger receptacle (10).

System for automating wheelchair user ingress, egress, and securement on a vehicle

A system allowing a wheelchair bound user to embark and disembark a vehicle without assistance. The user requests entry into the vehicle. The vehicle is manually or autonomously driven into a safe position for ingress. The vehicle checks if the area is clear to open the door. The vehicle autonomously opens the door. The vehicle verifies the person is wheelchair bound. If the passenger is wheelchair bound, then: the vehicle verifies if the area is clear to deploy an inclined ramp or lift. The vehicle deploys the inclined ramp or lift. The vehicle waits until the user is on top of the lift and starts lifting the wheelchair bound person. The vehicle waits until the user at the correct height and transitions from the lift/ramp into the securement station inside of the vehicle. The vehicle verifies that the wheelchair is properly positioned for securement. The vehicle secures the wheel chair.

Method for operating a motor vehicle and motor vehicle

A method for operating a motor vehicle which can be operated in an automated driving mode in which the motor vehicle is driven automatically by means of a computing device includes receiving at least one input for activating the automated driving mode, determining the current position of a first component of the motor vehicle and, depending on the input received and the determined current position, predetermining an adjusting region including the determined current position within which adjusting region movements of the first component relative to a second component of the motor vehicle caused by the driver via a motor allocated to the first component are permitted.

Buckle device

In a buckle device, a pressing force, applied from wire ropes to an inside wall face of a wire guide groove of a wire guide, is along an imaginary line passing through a center of a cover plate first hole portion of a cover plate fixing tab of a cover plate and a center of a wire guide hole portion of the wire guide as viewed from the vehicle inside, similarly to a pressing force applied to a first fixing bolt that fixes the cover plate to a support plate, and these pressing forces are both oriented in the same direction. This enables rotation moment to be suppressed from occurring at the cover plate when the wire ropes are pulled toward their length direction leading end side.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A SELF-ALIGNING RESTRAINT SYSTEM

Systems and methods are provided for a restraint system. In one embodiment, a retractor assembly for a restraint system includes a retractor body defining a retractor axis and a retractor spool coupled to the retractor body. The retractor spool is configured to accept a retractor belt. A pivot component is configured to rotatably secure the retractor body to a mounting structure such that, when a loading force is applied to the retractor spool via the retractor belt, the retractor axis rotates to substantially align with the loading force.
