Sign display apparatus and method for vehicle

Sign information of a traffic sign or a road marking ahead of a vehicle is detected. When two or more kinds of sign information having overlapping effective sections are detected or when the sign information contains textural information including a predetermined or more number of characters, simplified information obtained by simplifying the sign information is displayed on an MID in the vehicle.

CONTAMINATION PREVENTION OF VEHICLE CAMERAS AND SENSORS

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for contamination prevention of vehicle cameras and sensors. An example vehicle includes an exterior, a camera along the exterior and including a lens, and a controller. The controller is to determine, based upon images captured by the camera, whether a contaminant is approaching the lens and identify a contaminant state upon determining the contaminant is approaching the lens. The example vehicle also includes a nozzle to spray washer fluid to prevent contamination of the lens responsive to the controller identifying that the contaminant is a liquid.

Generating training data for automatic vehicle leak detection

A vehicle controller receives images from a camera upon arrival and upon departure. A location of the vehicle may be tracked and images captured by the camera may be tagged with a location. A departure image may be compared to an arrival image captured closest to the same location as the arrival image. A residual image based on a difference between the arrival and departure images is evaluated for anomalies. Attributes of the anomaly such as texture, color, and the like are determined and the anomaly is classified based on the attributes. If the classification indicates an automotive fluid, then an alert is generated. A machine learning algorithm for generating classifications from image data may be trained using arrival and departure images obtained by rendering of a three-dimensional model or by adding simulated fluid leaks to two-dimensional images.

Vehicle camera system

A vehicle camera system and method for operating a vehicle camera system comprising a vehicle camera with communication capabilities. The vehicle camera operating in conjunction with other components to provide information to users. The vehicle camera system compiles information from multiple components into a single repository of video recordings with information, such as location information, vehicle status and diagnostic information, alert information and other information.

CAPTURED IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC MIRROR SYSTEM, AND CAPTURED IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD

When it is possible to capture a plurality of light sources as images of a plurality of separated light sources with a gain within a range for each of the ranges of mutually different gains, images captured with the maximum gains among the gains that enables the capturing as the images of the plurality of light sources, that is, images captured to be the brightest is generated as use images (a, b, and c). Then, an image d, obtained by combining only the use images (a and b) in which the plurality of light sources is successfully captured as the images of the plurality of separated light sources among the generated use images, is displayed on a display.

Technologies for determining a distance of an object from a vehicle include a computing device to identify an object captured in a fisheye image generated by a fisheye camera of the vehicle. The computing device projects a contour of the identified object on a selected virtual plane that is located outside the vehicle and selected from a predefined set of virtual planes based on a location of the identified object relative to the vehicle. The computing device identifies a bottom of the projected contour on the selected virtual plane and determines an intersection point of an imaginary line with a ground plane coincident with a plane on which the vehicle is positioned. The imaginary line passes through each of the identified bottom of the projected contour and the fisheye camera. The computing device determines a location of the identified object relative to the vehicle based on the determined intersection point and the identified bottom of the projected contour.

Systems and methods for towing vehicle and trailer with surround view imaging devices

Systems and method are provided for a towing vehicle towing a trailer having at least one imaging device. A method includes: receiving, from a first imaging device coupled to the trailer, a first image stream having a plurality of first images; receiving, from a second imaging device coupled to the vehicle, a second image stream having a plurality of second images; determining, at least one common feature between a first image of the first images and a second image of the second images; determining a first distance from the first imaging device to the at least one common feature and a second distance from the second imaging device to the at least one common feature; and determining, a position of the first imaging device relative to the vehicle based on the first distance, the second distance and a known position and pose of the second imaging device.

USING A CAMERA TO ASSIST FORWARD VEHICLES IN A CARAVAN

A system for tracking a following vehicle by a leading vehicle. In one example, the system includes a user interface, a camera, an output device, and an electronic controller. The electronic controller is configured to receive, via the user interface, an indication of the following vehicle and recognize the following vehicle. The electronic controller tracks the following vehicle using a video feed from the camera and determines whether the following vehicle is struggling to follow the leading vehicle. The electronic controller also generates a driver notification when the following vehicle is struggling to follow the leading vehicle and outputs, via the output device, the driver notification.

Vehicle reverse assistant

A vehicle reverse assistant includes a rear side sensor, a towed object detector, and a stop determination threshold distance setter. The rear side sensor is provided at a rear portion of an own vehicle. The rear side sensor senses a rear side sensing region. The towed object detector detects whether a towed object is connected to the rear portion of the own vehicle. The stop determination threshold distance setter sets one end of a stop determination threshold distance at a position spaced apart at a constant distance from a rear end of the towed object on a basis of a sensing signal supplied from the rear side sensor when the towed object detector detects connection of the towed object.

Systems and methods for dewarping images

A computer-implemented method comprises: extracting a setting from a description file of a virtual pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera used to capture an original image through a wide-angle lens; determining a first set of coordinates of a pixel of the original image for each cell of a sparse conversion map represented as a first look-up table, wherein the sparse conversion map corresponds to a sparse grid of pixels of an output image; determining, via interpolating the first set of coordinates, a second set of coordinates of a pixel of the original image for each cell of a full conversion map, wherein the second set of coordinates is represented as a second look-up table, wherein the full conversion map corresponds to a full grid of pixels of the output image; instructing a display to present the output image, wherein the original image is less rectilinear than the output image.
