Method of speed control for a vehicle

A vehicle is adapted to sense a condition of use in which a maximum speed control speed is reduced. The condition of use may be indicated by a sensor of the vehicle, or selected according to the kind of terrain across which the vehicle is travelling. Selection of terrain type may be manual or automatic, and may enable a selection of sensors appropriate to the terrain type. A vehicle driver may select a speed control speed lower than the permitted maximum.

Braking device for a motor vehicle having preparatory pre-deceleration and method for controlling such a braking device

A braking device for a motor vehicle has a setpoint controlled deceleration device, which, upon receipt of a braking request input by a driver or an assistance system, for example, on the basis of a difference between a setpoint value and an actual value, drives a brake of the vehicle to generate a setpoint controlled braking torque for a deceleration of the motor vehicle. In addition, the braking device has a braking preparation control, which, upon receipt of a braking preparation signal, drives the brake independently of the setpoint value to produce at least one braking pressure for generating a preparation braking torque for a pre-deceleration of the motor vehicle. The braking preparation signal is generated as soon as a driving situation is ascertained where a braking request input by a driver or an assistance system is very likely imminent.

METHOD OF IMPROVING BRAKING PERFORMANCE THROUGH MOTOR TORQUE CONTROL OF VEHICLE
20170297452 · 2017-10-19 ·

A method of improving braking performance through motor torque control of a vehicle includes: determining a relation between a vehicle wheel torque change amount and a driving acceleration change amount prior to a start of braking of the vehicle; calculating a target acceleration that is changed according to a driver's braking request when a driver presses a brake pedal to start the braking of the vehicle; detecting a real acceleration of the vehicle in real-time; comparing the real acceleration with the target acceleration; and compensating for a difference between the real acceleration and the target acceleration by increasing a regenerative braking amount through motor torque control when the real acceleration differs from the target acceleration.

Method and system for controlling a motor vehicle parking brake during a stop

A method and a system for controlling a parking brake of a motor vehicle are described. According to the described method, an ignition signal and an actuation state of the parking brake are detected. An application force of the parking brake is then set to a first value in dependence upon the actuation state of the parking brake if the ignition signal is present. If the parking brake was previously in an applied actuation state, the application force is reduced from a second value to the first value. If the parking brake was previously in a released actuation state, the application force is increased to the first value. The first value is sufficient to hold the motor vehicle in its current position.

System and method for reducing aircraft brake wear

A system and method are provided for continuous monitoring and controlling of aircraft braking that can reduce brake wear and aircraft operating costs through the retention of carbon brake powder from the brakes or addition of carbon powder in a device mounted with respect to the brake disc stack. The use of carbon powder reduces brake wear by providing small particles between the brake discs, acting as a buffer between the brake discs when the brake stack is clamped together. Moreover, when carbon powder or small particles are used at application, such use reduces the roughness of the carbon surface and reduces the number of large particles from braking off the carbon surface, thereby reducing brake wear. Adaptive or selective braking may be used in conjunction with carbon powder to further reduce carbon brake wear.
