BRAKING A VEHICLE USING A NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID
A pneumatic braking arrangement for a vehicle is provided. The pneumatic braking arrangement comprises a parking brake operative to brake the vehicle based on a first air pressure for controlling a compression state of a spring of the parking brake. The pneumatic braking arrangement comprises a piston and a chamber. The piston is moveable within the chamber. The chamber contains a Non-Newtonian Fluid (NNF). The pneumatic braking arrangement comprises a brake valve operative to push the piston into the NNF in response to a brake request. The pneumatic braking arrangement comprises a control valve operative to control the first air pressure. The control valve is configured to release the first air pressure dependent on a first force applied by the NNF to the control valve.
Vehicle-body attachment structure for electric brake actuator
Untreated bosses are formed in advance in two directions on a cylinder mechanism. The bosses on one side are formed as mounts to attach a motor cylinder device to a vehicle body, and the other bosses are formed as ports to connect to the cylinder mechanism. The mount bosses are formed on the outside in the width direction of the vehicle, and the port bosses are formed on the inside in the width direction of the vehicle.
Plug retention system for a brake actuator
A plug for sealing an aperture in a brake actuator housing is provided that provides improvements in installation and retention of the plug and protection for sealing surfaces. The plug includes a retention member including a body defining an aperture configured for alignment with the actuator housing aperture along an axis extending through the apertures. The retention member further includes a plurality of alignment tabs extending radially from the body. The tabs are configured to be received within a plurality of notches formed in a retaining ring affixed to the housing when the retention member is disposed in an unlocked position and configured to be disposed on a first side of the retaining ring when the retention member is rotated about the axis to a locked position. The plug further includes a seal configured to be received within the aperture in the body. The seal closes the second aperture.
Spring brake actuator and method for making a spring brake actuator
A brake actuator is provided, in which a diaphragm, used in conjunction with a piston which compresses a parking brake-actuating spring, is arranged such that its outer peripheral region is captured between opposing housing flange portions such that a seal between the interior and exterior of the brake actuator housing is provided in a radially-oriented region of the diaphragm and the housing flange portions away from housing portion jointing components such as a clamp ring or individual fasteners. The diaphragm may also be provided with a wedge-shaped portion at its outer periphery which is axially oriented and configured to reside in a corresponding annular gap between the opposing housing flange portions.
CENTER BEARING OF ADAPTER PLATE COMPRISING RUBBER AND RIGID PLASTIC MEMBERS DEVELOPED FOR SPRING BRAKE ACTUATORS
This invention is related to improving the sealing of the adapter plate inside the spring brake actuator and to improving the bearing of the intermediate shaft and the adapter plate. The invention is related to a new design regarding the bearing section providing sealing between the intermediate shaft and the adapter plate, which is a part of the spring brake actuator. The present invention is related to the development of two pieced bearing member having different hardness and being produced from different materials one of which is a rigid plastic piece which prevents force losses and decreases lateral loads, and the other of which is the rubber means.
Housing device and plunger for a brake device for a vehicle, brake device and method for operating a brake device
A housing device for a brake device for a vehicle, including: a piston chamber for accommodating a plunger, which is movable linearly in the piston chamber by an actuation by a driver; and a sensor chamber, which is separated from the piston chamber, and which includes a sensor unit, which is configured to detect a position and/or a movement of the plunger in the piston chamber, to effect a braking operation of the vehicle. Also described are a related plunger, a brake device, a method, an apparatus, and a computer readable medium.
