20190001944 · 2019-01-03 ·

A method for mitigating sway of a trailer being towed by a leading vehicle is disclosed. The method may involve using a controller of the vehicle to determine when a trailer sway condition has arisen that requires a mitigating action. The controller may be used to actuate a plurality of brakes of the vehicle, or to increase braking pressure being applied by a driver of the vehicle, when the trailer is detected as swaying toward a centerline of the vehicle from one side or another of the vehicle centerline. The controller may further be used to release the plurality of brakes, or to decrease a braking pressure being commanded by the driver, before the trailer has swayed past the vehicle centerline, and to repeatedly apply and release the vehicle brakes only while the trailer is detected as swaying toward the vehicle centerline, until the trailer sway condition has been mitigated.

TRAILER ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
20180334152 · 2018-11-22 · ·

A method and system for braking a trailer with a trailer braking system including receiving, at a controller, a brake request from a vehicle. The controller receives wheel speed signals from wheel speed sensors on the trailer. The controller determines a velocity of the trailer based on the wheel speed signals and determines a wheel speed based on one of the wheel speed signals. The controller compares the velocity of the trailer to the wheel speed to obtain a difference value. The controller determines that one of the wheels is unstable when the difference value exceeds a threshold. When unstable and when the brake request is received, the controller generates a braking signal to reduce the braking force on the one of the plurality of wheels.

The present disclosure discloses a trailer braking control method and system based on an electric brake controller. A lateral displacement and speed of a vehicle are acquired first; whether the vehicle has Death Wobble and a degree of the Death Wobble are then determined according to the lateral displacement; if there is Death Wobble, a driving state of the vehicle is determined according to the speed; and finally, a set voltage is added based on a set output voltage according to the degree of the Death Wobble and the driving state, so as to brake the vehicle. The present disclosure avoids setting of a weight ratio in the prior art to prevent the phenomenon of Death Wobble, and can identify and prevent the phenomenon of Death Wobble of a trailer, thereby avoiding an overturning accident and ensuring the personal safety and the integrity of a vehicle.
