Reagents and methods for modulating cone photoreceptor activity
The present invention provides reagents and methods for modulating cone photoreceptor activity, and devices for assessment of cone photoreceptor activity.
Epidermal devices for analysis of temperature and thermal transport characteristics
Provided are tissue-mounted devices and methods for monitoring a thermal transport property (e.g., thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, heat capacity) of tissue, such as skin. The devices conformally mount to the tissue and have one or more thermal actuators and a plurality of sensors. The actuator applies heat to the tissue and the sensors to detect a spatio temporal distribution of a physiological tissue parameter or physical property resulting from the heating. This spatio temporal information may be correlated with a rate, velocity and/or direction of blood flow, the presence of a vascular occlusion, circulation changes due to inflammation, hydration level and other physiological parameters.

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for predicting a disease state of a subject using ultrasound imaging. The method includes identifying at least one quantitative measurement of a subject using ultrasound imaging, the at least one quantitative measurement included as part of quantitative information of the subject gathered based on the ultrasound imaging, comparing the at least one quantitative measurement to a first predetermined standard to determine a first initial value, the first predetermined standard falling within a first range of quantities, identifying at least one qualitative measurement of the subject using the ultrasound imaging, the at least one qualitative measurement included as part of qualitative information of the subject gathered based on the ultrasound imaging, comparing the at least one qualitative measurement to a second predetermined standard to determine a second initial value, the second predetermined standard falling within a second range of quantities; and correlating at least the quantitative information and the qualitative information using the first initial value and the second initial value to determine a final value that is used in predicting a disease state of the subject.
SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING TARGETED ELECTRICAL STIMULATION TO TISSUE
Provided is a system that may be used in delivering targeted electrical stimulation to tissue, such as animal bodily tissue. A system according to the present invention includes a longitudinal stimulation probe that includes a first electrode disposed at a distal tip and a second electrically conductive surface spaced proximally from the first electrode. Another system according to the present invention may include an improved user interface including an improved probe/handle interface including high visibility indication.
Intelligence engine system and method
A percussive therapy system that includes a percussive massage device including a network interface, and an intelligence engine. The intelligence engine is configured to receive manual capture data and real-time tracking data from the percussive massage device, receive remote data from a remote data source, and generate recommendation data comprising a recommended protocol to be performed by the percussive massage device. The recommendation data is generated from demographic, activity, temporal, analytics, and biometric data, received from the manual capture data, the real-time tracking data, and the remote data inputs.
Method of noninvasive optical measurement of properties of free-flowing blood
The invention relates to a method of the noninvasive optical in-vivo measurement of properties of flowing blood in a blood vessel within a body, for example for determining the concentration of blood constituents, wherein the body is irradiated with ultrasound radiation at an ultrasound frequency (f.sub.US) in order to label a blood vessel, the body with the blood vessel is illuminated with light with at least one light wavelength and the back-scattered light is detected with a detector, the light component backscattered by the body outside of the blood vessel is modulated by a frequency (f.sub.MG) that corresponds to the frequency (f.sub.US) of the ultrasound radiation, and the light component backscattered inside the blood vessel is modulated due to the Doppler effect in flowing blood with a frequency (f.sub.MB) that is shifted by the Doppler shift (f.sub.D) with respect to the frequency (f.sub.US) of the ultrasound radiation, and an evaluation device extracts the signal component modulated by the shifted frequency (f.sub.MB) from the detector signal measured at the detector.
A BRACE FOR MANAGEMENT OF AN ANATOMICAL STRUCTURE; AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
Disclosed is a brace for management of an injured part of an anatomical structure. The brace comprises a proximal part extending from a proximal joint end towards a proximal free end along a proximal axis. The brace comprises a proximal fixation configured for supporting a proximal anatomical structure. The proximal part at the proximal joint end interacting via a brace joint with a distal part extending from a distal joint end towards an opposite a distal free end along a distal axis. The proximal part and the distal part are operatively connected via the brace joint. Also disclosed is a brace and a method of measuring a threshold injury force on an anatomical structure.
Mapping shear wave velocity and shear modulus in biological tissues
A method for mapping shear wave velocity in biological tissues includes using an ultrasound transducer to generate mechanical excitations at a plurality of locations in a region of interest. An MRI system is used to capture a phase image of each mechanical excitation, wherein motion encoding gradients (MEGs) of the MRI system encode a propagating shear wavefront caused by the mechanical excitation. A plurality of shear wave velocity maps is generated based on the phase images, wherein each shear wave velocity map depicts velocity between adjacent propagating shear wavefronts. The shear wave speed values are combined to generate a composite shear wave velocity map of the region of interest.
Biomagnetic measurement system and biomagnetic measurement method
A biomagnetic measurement system includes a magnetism measurement apparatus configured to measure a magnetism of a target; and an electrical stimulation apparatus configured to apply a stimulation current to the target. The magnetism measurement apparatus includes a confirming unit configured to confirm a magnitude of an artifact caused by the stimulation current. The electrical stimulation apparatus is configured to output a compensation current for reducing the artifact after the stimulation current is output, based on information from the confirming unit.
