BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR
Technologies are generally described for systems, devices and methods relating to blood pressure monitors. Blood pressure monitors may include a processor and a structure effective to be in communication with the processor. The structure may be effective to apply pressure to an object. Blood pressure monitors may include at least one photoreceptor effective to be in communication with the processor. Photoreceptors may be located in the device so as to be effective to detect light returned from the object while the pressure is applied. Blood pressure monitors may be effective to determine color values of the returned light, determine changes in the color values of the returned light, and determine a blood pressure based on the changes in the color values.
WRIST-DETECTION ALGORITHM
Algorithms for detecting whether a device is properly secured to a user's skin are described. The operation of a device, such as a wearable device, can be adjusted based on whether the device is properly secured to a user's skin (e.g., on-wrist) or not properly secured to the user's skin (e.g., off-wrist). For example, certain functions can be disabled for power-saving, security or other purposes if the device is off-wrist. In order to avoid falsely identifying the device as off-wrist or on-wrist, algorithms for detecting whether the device is on-wrist or off-wrist can calculate one or more variances based on signals measured by a light sensor and compare the one or more variances with one or more thresholds. Comparing the one or more variances to the one or more threshold can improve the accuracy of wrist-detection algorithms.
Automatic Alignment of a Contrast Enhancement System
An apparatus and method for insuring the proper alignment of a defected vein pattern and a projected vein pattern are disclosed. The apparatus enhances the visual appearance of veins so that an error that can lead to improper patient care or injury can be avoided.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HORSESHOE, AND HORSESHOE
Disclosed is a method for producing a customized horseshoe (10), the shoe being designed to fit the form of a hoof of a specific horse for which it has been produced, the shoe including a metal part (14) which is at least partially visible. At least a portion of the outer surface of the metal part is treated in order to color same, the treatment including an anodization step and a coloring step, or the application of a decorative coating.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO DETERMINE SURROGATES OF BLOOD PRESSURE
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for determining a subject's blood pressure using one or more implantable medical devices (IMDs). In an embodiment, a medical system comprises: at least one implantable medical device configured to sense signals associated with heart sounds of a subject and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the at least one implantable medical device. The processing unit is configured to: receive heart sound signals corresponding to the signals associated with the heart sounds; and calculate a surrogate of the subject's blood pressure using at least one heart sound signal of the received heart sound signals.
WEARABLE PULSE OXIMETER AND RESPIRATION MONITOR
A wireless patient monitoring device can be fully functional stand-alone patient monitoring device capable of various physiological measurements. The patient monitoring device is small and light enough to be comfortably worn on the patient, such as on the patient's wrist or around the neck. The patient monitoring device can have a monitor instrument removably engaging a disposable base. The base can have outlets for connecting to an acoustic respiration sensor and an oximeter sensor. The patient monitoring device can have pogo pin connectors connecting the monitor instrument and the disposable base so that the monitor instrument can receive sensor data from the sensors connected to the disposable base.
System for blood flow measurement with affixed laser speckle contrast analysis
Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for improved laser speckle imaging of samples, such as vascularized tissue, for the determination of the rate of movement of light scattering particles within the sample. The system includes a structure adjoining a light source and a photo-sensitive detector. The structure can be positioned adjacent the sample (e.g., coupled to the sample) and configured to orient the light source and detector relative the sample such that surface reflections, including specular reflections and diffuse reflections, are discouraged from entering the detection field of the detector. The separation distance along the structure between the light source and the detector may further enable selective depth penetration into the sample and biased sampling of multiply scattered photons. The system includes an operably coupled processor programmed to derive contrast metrics from the detector and to relate the contrast metrics to a rate of movement of the light scattering particles.
LASER GUIDANCE SYSTEM FOR INTRA-OPERATIVE ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY
A system and method are provided for performing fluoroscopic procedures with assistance of guiding laser beam projections to reduce a reliance on harmful radiation emitting fluoroscopic imaging devices during the procedure. The system and method reduce an amount of radiation exposure to patients and medical personnel during procedures that require assistive real-time imaging. Specifically, an automated laser guidance system and method of use is provided to reduce fluoroscopic radiation, reduce operation time, and increase operative accuracy.
MEDICAL DEVICE INSPECTION SYSTEM
A medical device inspection system may include a base, a medical device holder on the base, a fiber scope holder on the base, a moveable roller moveably attached to the base such that it is free to rotate around an axis and move from a first position to a second position along the base, and a feeder coupled with the base for feeding a flexible portion of the fiber scope into a lumen of the medical device. During use, the flexible portion of the fiber scope may extend from the handle, around the moveable roller, and through the feeder to enter an opening in the lumen of the medical device.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMAGING AND COLLECTION OF DATA FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES
A system for outputting a representation of a wound in tissue comprises a housing configured to removably receive at least a portion of a wireless communication device. At least one light source coupled to the housing is configured to emit excitation light to illuminate a target which includes at least a portion of the wound. A power supply contained in the housing is configured to provide power to the light source. A non-transitory computer-readable medium stores a program executable to cause the performance of operations comprising detecting signals responsive to illumination of the target, outputting the representation of the target based thereon, storing data relative to one or more target surface parameter based on the detected signals, and displaying the representation. The signals correspond to at least one of endogenous or exogeneous fluorescence, absorbance, and reflectance from at least one biological component in and/or on the target.
