Medical imaging system, method, and computer program
A medical imaging system is described that comprises an heating element configured to apply at least one heating pattern element to a material to locally heat the material; a sensor configured to capture the position of the heated material a predetermined time after the application of the heating pattern element; and circuitry configured to determine the change of the heating pattern applied to the material based upon the captured position of the heated material after the predetermined time.
Systems and methods for assessing heart function
Systems and methods can be used to provide an indication of heart function, such as an indication of mechanical function or hemodynamics of the heart, based on electrical data. For example, a method for assessing a function of the heart can include determining a time-based electrical characteristic for a plurality of points distributed across a spatial region of the heart. The plurality of points can be grouped into at least two subsets of points based on at least one of a spatial location for the plurality of points or the time-based electrical characteristics for the plurality of points. An indication of synchrony for the heart can be quantified based on relative analysis of the determined time-based electrical characteristic for each of the at least two subsets of points.
INDUCTIVE SENSING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An inductive sensing system (8) is for detecting bleeding (e.g. blood pools) in one or more regions of the body. The system comprises a resonator circuit (10) having at least one antenna (12) which is driven with an oscillatory drive signal to cause generation of electromagnetic signals for application to a body. The signals induce eddy currents in the body which generate secondary EM signals returned from the body. These interact with the resonator circuit by adding an additional component of inductance to the circuit. This inductance component varies depending upon the conductivity of the fluid in which the eddy current is induced. Blood has a different conductivity to other body fluids. The system is configured to detect presence of abnormal accumulations of blood based on the additional inductance component. The system generates a data output representative of the determination.
ALGORITHM-BASED METHODS FOR PREDICTING AND/OR DETECTING A CLINICAL CONDITION RELATED TO INSERTION OF A MEDICAL INSTRUMENT TOWARD AN INTERNAL TARGET

PHOTONIC INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
A photonic integrated device comprising: a photonic integrated chip (PIC) adapted to investigate blood flow at a portion of tissue of a user, said PIC comprising: a laser having an optical output, or waveguide for guiding an optical output from an external laser, the optical output being split into a first optical component and a second optical component; wherein the first optical component is arranged to be transmitted to and generate speckle at the portion of tissue of the user; the photonic integrated device further comprising: one or more detectors, each detector configured to receive the speckle generated by the first optical component at the portion of tissue; and one or more optical splitters optically coupling the second optical component to one or more respective input(s) of the one or more detectors; wherein the photonic integrated device is further adapted to measure interference at the one or more detectors between a sample arm formed by the first optical component and a reference arm formed by the second optical component.
Systems and methods for optimizing medical care through data monitoring and feedback treatment
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for providing a decision support solution to medical professionals to optimize medical care through data monitoring and feedback treatment are provided herein. In another embodiment, a computer-implemented method for modeling patient outcomes resulting from treatment in a specific medical area includes receiving patient-specific data associated with a patient, determining a plurality of possible patient states under which the patient can be categorized, a current patient state under which the patient can be categorized and determining probabilities of the patient transitioning from any of the possible patient states to every other possible patient state.
Topological features and time-bandwidth signature of heart signals as biomarkers to detect deterioration of a heart
A system monitors an individual for conditions indicating a possibility of occurrence of irregular heart events. A database includes a plurality of combinations of at least a first signature and a second signature. A first portion of the plurality of combinations is associated with a normal heartbeat and a second portion of the plurality of combinations is associated with an irregular heart event. A wearable heart monitor that is worn on a body of the patient includes a heart sensor for generating a heart signal responsive to monitoring a beating of a heart of the individual. The monitor further includes a processor for receiving the heart signal from the heart sensor. The processor is configured to analyze the heart signal using a plurality of different processes. Each of the plurality of different processes generates at least one of the first signature and the second signature. The plurality of different processes provide a unique combination including at least the first signature and the second signature for the generated heart signal. The processor compares the unique combination with the plurality of combinations in the database, locates a combination of the plurality of combinations that substantially matches the unique combination and generates a first indication if the unique combination substantially matches one of the first portion of the plurality of combinations and a second indication if the unique combination substantially matches one of the second portion of the plurality of combinations.

The sensor assembly includes at least one electrical conductor and at least one capacitor which are connected in such a way that the conductor and the capacitor form at least one electrical resonant circuit. The electrical conductor is surrounded by an electrical insulation. The electrical conductor is in the form of a coil having at least one turn. The capacitor is in contact at least on one side with the surrounding environment and its capacitance changes depending on the body parameter that is to be determined.
