Systems, methods and computer readable media for non-contact physio-behaviorial monitoring of a subject
The systems and methods can provide continuous, efficient, accurate, non-contact, monitoring of one or more cardiorespiratory and/or behavior parameters associated with a subject in a defined environment using at least non-contact sensor data and provide feedback based on the determined parameters. The system can include one or more sensor modules disposed within defined environment(s). The system may further include one or more sensors disposed at a specific spatial location in the defined environment. The sensor(s) may include non-contact electric field sensor(s) configured to record non-contact sensor data related to one or more periods of stillness and/or movement of the subject. The system may further include one or more processors configured to determine cardiorespiratory respiratory parameters and/or behavior parameters using the non-contact sensor data. Because the systems and methods also allow for continuous collection of measurable variables, they can provide a high-throughput quantifiable record of the subject's physio-behavioral self.
Apparatus for effective ablation and nerve sensing associated with denervation
An intravascular catheter for nerve activity ablation and/or sensing includes one or more needles advanced through supported guide tubes (needle guiding elements) which expand to contact the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the needles to be advanced though the vessel wall into the extra-luminal tissue including the media, adventitia and periadvential space. The catheter also includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall. Electrodes at the distal ends of the guide tubes allow sensing of nerve activity before and after attempted renal denervation. In a combination embodiment ablative energy or fluid is delivered to ablate nerves outside of the media.
Estimation method and device to identify next position of a living body
An estimation method includes: transmitting transmission signals using M transmission antenna elements; receiving reception signals by N reception antenna elements; calculating, from the reception signals, a first matrix whose components are complex transfer functions indicating propagation characteristics between the transmission antenna elements and the reception antenna elements; estimating, using the first matrix, a position and an orientation of a living body relative to an estimation device; when the estimated position is in a first identification region and the estimated orientation is in a predetermined range from a first direction, identifying the living body based on time waveforms of the reception signals and a first training signal which is obtained in advance in the first identification region and corresponds to the living body; and adding, as an identification region for identifying the first living body identified, a new identification region based on an estimated position of the first living body identified.

Avoidance of peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) using induced analgesia
Techniques are disclosed related to increasing prior limits imposed on MR gradient switching speed (dB/dt) without causing significant discomfort or severe pain perception to patients. The technique disclosed herein do so by modifying the pulsing gradient fields that are ordinarily available for MR imaging protocols. Doing so stimulates the peripheral nerves and thus enables a quick, reversible, and complete inhibition of action potential propagation through the stimulated region of tissue, referred to as a nerve conduction block.
DEVICE AND METHOD TO ACTIVATE CELL STRUCTURES BY MEANS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY
A stimulation system includes an energy source, an electronics unit with a controller, and an actuator that is coupled with the electronics unit and/or the energy source. The actuator emits electromagnetic waves for stimulation of genetically manipulated tissue. The electronics unit is disposed in a housing. The stimulation system is configured for at least temporary implantation in a human or animal body. The controller controls the stimulation of tissue in the body by way of the electromagnetic waves emitted by the actuator. A selector of the stimulation system selects the area of the said tissue for stimulation. The selector includes a masking device for masking certain areas of the tissue, so that an intensity of the stimulation for the masked areas is reduced or equal to zero.
INTESTINAL DIAGNOSTIC SCREENING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TARGETED GASTROINTESTINAL THERAPY
A tracer detection device includes an enclosed body, and a plurality of tracer sensors, a battery, a memory, and a transmitter, each disposed within the enclosed body. The plurality of tracer sensors is configured to detect measurement values at a surface and underneath the surface of a gastrointestinal tract. The battery is configured to power the plurality of tracer sensors. The memory is configured to receive measurement values detected by the plurality of tracer sensors. The transmitter is configured to transmit measurement values detected by the plurality of tracer sensors to an external device after the enclosed body has passed through the gastrointestinal tract. The enclosed body includes a steering feature that ensures the enclosed body is oriented in an intended direction. The plurality of tracer sensors triggers release of a drug. The plurality of tracer sensors estimate distances to gastrointestinal walls for normalizing signals.
