A method is provided for optically measuring tissue in a medical procedure comprising suctioning a tissue using a suction device, sending optical signals along optical fibers through the suction device; directing the signals from the optical fibers onto the tissue using a beveled surface; receiving optical signals from the tissue in optical fibers via the beveled reflective surface; measuring the received optical signals in a spectrometer or detector; and releasing, resecting or ablating the tissue through the suction device.
SMART PLATE SENSORS
A patient monitoring system, including: a bone plate configured to be secured to a bone; a plurality of sensors on the bone plate configured to: measure a parameter; transmit a data signal communicating the measured parameter value; and wherein the transmitted data signals from the plurality of sensors are time division multiplexed; and an external wireless reader including an antenna, a processor, and wireless communication radio, wherein the external wireless reader is configured to: transmit an modulated RF signal; and receive the time division multiplexed transmitted data signals from the plurality of sensors.
DISTAL TIP TRACKING AND MAPPING
Methods and systems for determining and mapping a location of a distal end region of an elongate shaft. An illustrative method may comprise obtaining data from an accelerometer located in the elongate shaft adjacent a distal end thereof, determining a length of the elongate shaft inserted into a body from a reference point, merging the accelerometer data and the length of the elongate shaft to localize the distal end region of the elongate shaft, reconstructing a line of travel of the medical device within the body, and superimposing the reconstructed line of travel over an image of an anatomy of the patient.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR NAVIGATION BASED ON ORDERED SENSOR RECORDS
A method performed by a computing system comprises receiving a first set of spatial information from an instrument positioned within an anatomic passageway. The first set of spatial information includes a plurality of spatial data records including position information for a distal end of the instrument at a plurality of time periods. The method further comprises ordering the plurality of spatial data records in a time-gathered order. The method further comprises evaluating a spatial relationship between first and second consecutive spatial data records of the plurality of spatial data records. The method further comprises filtering the first set of spatial information based upon the evaluated spatial relationship.
WRIST-TYPE BODY COMPONENT MEASURING APPARATUS AND BODY COMPONENT MEASURING METHOD USING THE SAME
The wrist-type body component measuring apparatus includes: a band configured to be worn on a wrist of a user; a first input electrode and a first output electrode disposed on an inside surface of the band and configured to be in contact with the wrist of the user; a second input electrode and a second output electrode disposed on an outside surface of the band; a measuring unit configured to apply a current to the first and second input electrodes and detect a voltage from the first and second output electrodes to measure a body impedance of the user; and an electrode converter configured to convert a disposition of the first and second input electrodes and the first and second output electrodes based on a determination of whether the band is worn on a left wrist or a right wrist of the user.
Devices and methods facilitating sleeve gastrectomy and other procedures
A device for use in bariatric surgery includes a flexible hollow tube extending from a proximal end to a distal end and defines a channel therebetween. A series of openings is defined in a distal portion of the tube allowing for fixation of tissue using suction. A flexible member has an initial position disposed alongside the tube and is deployable to a subsequent position in which the flexible member engages a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member is configured to be deployable to automatically assume a shape of a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member includes a bulging region and a tapering region when deployed. The flexible member is releasably attached to the distal end of the tube.
Apparatuses and methods for registering a real-time image feed from an imaging device to a steerable catheter
A method of registering a real-time image feed from an imaging device inserted into a steerable catheter using a navigation system is provided. The method includes inserting the imaging device into a working channel of the steerable catheter and generating a real-time image feed of one or more reference points, wherein the orientation of the reference points is known. The method further includes orienting a handle of the steerable catheter to a neutral position, displaying the real-time image feed on a display of the navigation system, and registering the real-time image feed to the steerable catheter by rotating the displayed image so that the reference points in the real-time image feed are matched to the known orientation of the reference points.
Health management apparatus, method for operating health management apparatus, and program for operating health management apparatus
A CPU of a health management apparatus functions as an acquisition unit, a first derivation unit, and a screen output control unit. The acquisition unit acquires a body-fat percentage which is an obesity parameter indicating the degree of obesity of a target pet and bone density which is a bone parameter indicating the degree of bone strength of the target pet. The first derivation unit derives health conditions of the target pet on the basis of a correlation between the body-fat percentage and the bone density. A screen output control unit performs control to output a medical examination result display screen on which the health conditions are displayed.
