AUTOMATED INNER EAR DIAGNOSES

An expert diagnosis system integrated in a hearing prosthesis system is configured to diagnosis, grade, and remediate inner ear crises. In particular, the expert diagnosis system analyzes combinations of in-situ measured inner ear potentials, obtained in response to electrical and/or acoustic stimulation, in order to identify crisis signatures and to correlate those crisis signatures to clinical symptoms of a specific type and cause of an inner ear crises (i.e., automatically diagnosis the inner ear crisis). The expert system is further configured to grade the severity of the identified clinical symptoms and initiate some form of remedial action to address the identified inner ear crisis.

Optical Coherence Tomography device for Otitis Media

An OCT apparatus and method for characterization of a fluid adjacent to a tympanic membrane has a low coherence source which is coupled to a splitter which has a measurement path and a reference path. The reference path is temporally modulated for length, and the combined signals from the reference path and the measurement path are applied to a detector. The detector examines the width of the response and the time variation when an optional excitation source is applied to the tympanic membrane, the width of the response and the time variation forming a metric indicating the viscosity of a fluid adjacent to the tympanic membrane being measured.

COCHLEA HEALTH MONITORING

Presented herein are in-situ techniques for monitoring a recipient's cochlea health to proactively identify (i.e., predict) changes to the recipient's cochlea health outside of a clinical setting. The cochlea health monitoring techniques presented herein obtain one or more cochlea health biomarkers associated with a recipient's cochlea health, such the recipient's residual hearing, and analyze these biomarkers to predict that a cochlea health change is likely to occur.

System and methods for creating reduced test sets used in assessing subject response to stimuli

A computer-implemented method for generating a test set for testing a subject using a computer system comprising logic-based processing circuitry is provided. The method includes the step of selecting one or more features from among a plurality of features, wherein a measurable effect on the subject of each feature selected is based on a predetermined threshold. The method also includes generating one or more classes of stimuli based on the selected features. The method further includes selecting stimuli from one or more of said classes for presenting to the subject.
