SYSTEM AND METHOD OF TESTING A HEARING FUNCTION
20230190142 · 2023-06-22 ·

A system and method of adaptively testing a hearing function performs a hearing test including outputting a sound of a tested word chosen from a selected one of the word lists, receiving an input of a patient in response to the outputted sound, and determining whether the input matches with the tested word. The hearing test is repeated until a testing end condition is satisfied, wherein the selected one of the word lists in a next iteration of the hearing test has a next higher level of difficulty when the input matches with the tested word in a previous iteration of the hearing test, and the selected one of the word lists in the next iteration of the hearing test has a next lower level of difficulty when the input does not match with the tested word in the previous iteration of the hearing test.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VALIDATION OF HEARING AIDS FOR INFANTS USING A SPEECH SIGNAL
20230188913 · 2023-06-15 · ·

A system for validation of a hearing aid performance, especially in small children is disclosed. The validation of the performance of hearing aids after having being fitted to a small child who is not able to subjectively provide responses to sounds presented to the child via the hearing aids, is instead done in an objective manner, by using a naturally occurring signal, which has been modulated in order to create an ASSR evoking speech stimulus which is not considered as noise by a hearing aid.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING TINNITUS AND ENHANCING HEARING
20170353807 · 2017-12-07 ·

Systems and methods for treating hearing loss and/or tinnitus or enhancing hearing to sounds or sound features such as in a noisy environment are disclosed. An apparatus includes a hearing aid and associated electrodes for electrically stimulating a portion near, on or in the ear, where the electrical stimulation is synchronized with a sound input and/or sound output of the hearing aid.

METHOD FOR HEARING TEST AND HEARING TEST DEVICE

An electronic device and a method for hearing test of a user is disclosed, the method comprising obtaining one or more first test parameters including a first primary test parameter; displaying a first user interface comprising a first primary user interface element according to the first primary test parameter; outputting a first primary test signal according to the first primary test parameter; while displaying the first user interface, detecting a first user input indicative of a request for change in the first primary test signal; determining a second primary test parameter according to the first user input indicative of a request for change in the first primary test signal; updating and displaying the first user interface according to the second primary test parameter; and outputting a second primary test signal according to the second primary test parameter.

Method for determining hearing thresholds in the absence of pure-tone testing

A method for determining hearing thresholds in the absence of pure-tone testing includes an adaptive speech recognition test which includes a calibrated item pool, each item having a difficulty value (d.sub.i) and associated standard error (s.sub.e). Test items are administered to a group of individuals having mild to moderately severe hearing loss to obtain responses. The responses are subjected to multiple regression statistical methods to develop an equation for converting an individual's test score to hearing threshold values at several frequencies. The adaptive speech recognition test can be administered to an individual and their score can be converted into hearing thresholds at each of the several frequencies by use of the equation.

ACOUSTIC OTOSCOPE

An acoustic otoscope generates volume change excitations of either a trapezoidal or sinusoidal waveforms which are coupled into a sealed ear canal using a speculum tip. The change in volume results in a pressure change, for which a pressure measurement is taken during the volume change excitation interval. In one example, a trapezoidal time-domain volume change is presented, and a pressure measurement waveform is stored, the pressure measurement waveform thereafter examined to find a change of slope point in time, after which the pressure measurement waveform is scaled to be equal to the volume change waveform at that same point in time, a difference between scaled pressure measurement and volume excitation is formed, and examined for peak value prior to the earlier determined change in slope point in time.
