HEARING AND MONITORING SYSTEM
Systems and methods for assisting user with hearing by amplifying sound using an amplifier with gain and amplitude controls for a plurality of frequencies; and applying a learning machine to identify an aural environment and adjust the amplifiers for optimum hearing.
IMPLANTABLE TINNITUS THERAPY
Presented herein are techniques for providing tinnitus relief to recipients via an implantable arrangement. In accordance with embodiments presented herein, an implantable medical device, such as implantable tinnitus therapy device, auditory/hearing prosthesis, etc., comprises one or more implantable sensors configured to be implanted in a recipient. The one or more implantable sensors are configured to detect body noises of the recipient. The implantable medical device is configured to classify/categorize the one or more body noises and set, select, or otherwise determine a tinnitus therapy for the recipient based on the classification of the one or more body noises.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MULTIMODAL STIMULATION
A system for providing multimodal stimulation to a user includes a tactile device including a set of tactile actuators. Additionally, the system can include and/or interface with a user device, a remote computing system, and/or any other devices. A method for multimodal stimulation functions to provide therapy to a user for tinnitus or other conditions, and includes any or all of: receiving a set of inputs; determining a set of outputs; providing the set of outputs to a user; and adjusting any or all of the set of outputs.
Automatically aiding individuals with developing auditory attention abilities
Aspects include identifying each of a plurality of audio sources proximate to a user wearing a headset. The audio sources include a primary audio source and a plurality of background audio sources. Aspects include causing the headset to play a set of audio sources to the user by causing each audio source of the set to be unfiltered by the headset. Aspects include determining an acceptance level of the user. Aspects also include determining a background noise filtering adjustment based on the acceptance level and the set of audio sources being played by the headset to the user. Aspects also include causing the headset to adjust a filtering of one or more of the plurality of background audio sources by the headset based on the background noise filtering adjustment.
OBJECTIVE DETERMINATION OF ACOUSTIC PRESCRIPTIONS
Presented herein are techniques that make use of objective measurements obtained in response to acoustic stimulation signals. More specifically, at least one measure of outer hair cell function and at least one measure of auditory nerve function are obtained from a tonotopic region of an inner ear of a recipient of a hearing prosthesis. The at least one measure of auditory nerve function and the least one measure of outer hair cell function are then analyzed relative to one another.
AUDITORY PROSTHETIC DEVICES USING EARLY AUDITORY POTENTIALS AS A MICROPHONE AND RELATED METHODS
Described herein are devices and methods that use the electrical potentials that arise naturally in the cochlea through the activity of sensory cells and auditory neurons and resemble the output from a microphone. An example auditory prosthetic device includes an electrode array that is configured for insertion into at least a portion of a subject's cochlea and a receiver-stimulator operably coupled to the electrode array. The electrode array is configured for electrical recording and stimulation.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING CONSUMER HEARING AID FITTINGS
Certain embodiments provide systems and methods for performing consumer hearing aid fittings. The system includes a computing device, an otoacoustic emissions (OAE) measurement device, a hearing aid, and a hearing database. The hearing database is configured to store customer hearing data. The OAE measurement device is configured to perform an OAE test to generate OAE test results. The computing device is communicatively coupled to the hearing database, the OAE measurement device, and the hearing aid. The computing device is configured to receive the OAE test results from the OAE measurement device, retrieve a subset of the hearing data from the hearing database, process the OAE test results and the subset of the hearing data to generate hearing aid fitting parameters, and upload the hearing aid fitting parameters to the hearing aid. The hearing aid is configured to apply the hearing aid fitting parameters to generate an acoustic output.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) method, system and application for managing tinnitus
A tinnitus management system and a computer-implemented method for managing tinnitus are described. The system comprises a survey developing unit, a progress determining unit, a performance evaluation unit, and a feedback unit. The survey developing unit develops and/or adapts, after a first training section, a subsequent, second training section or a following part of a survey based on a performance indicator determined for the first training section.
Hearing evaluation and configuration of a hearing assistance-device
A method for evaluating hearing of a user comprising: generating a baseline hearing profile for the user comprising a set of gain values based on a volume setting, each gain value in the set of gain values corresponding to a frequency band in a set of frequency bands; accessing a soundbite comprising a phrase characterized by a frequency spectrum predominantly within one frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a first gain in the frequency band; playing the soundbite amplified by a second gain in the frequency band; receiving a preference input representing a preference of the user from amongst the soundbite amplified by the first gain and the soundbite amplified by the second; and modifying a gain value, corresponding to the frequency band, in the baseline hearing profile based on the preference input to generate a refined hearing profile compensating for hearing deficiency of the user.
Otoscope
An otoscope and method for visualizing compliance of the tympanic membrane in response to a pressure stimulus. The otoscope includes a handle, a housing, a laser assembly configured to selectively project a grid array of dots on a tympanic membrane of a patient, a camera configured to selectively capture activity of the tympanic membrane, a pressure transducer configured to selectively apply a stimulus to the tympanic membrane, a display pivotably coupled to the handle, and a controller. The display is configured to display the tympanic membrane in true color and a two-dimensional interpolated surface plot representing activity of the tympanic membrane in response to the stimulus.
