Apparatus, systems, and methods for gathering and processing biometric and biomechanical data
Apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for measuring and analyzing movements of a body and for communicating information related to such body movements over a network. In certain embodiments, a system gathers biometric and biomechanical data relating to positions, orientations, and movements of various body parts of a user performed during sports activities, physical rehabilitation, or military or law enforcement activities. The biometric and biomechanical data can be communicated to a local and/or remote interface, which uses digital performance assessment tools to provide a performance evaluation to the user. The performance evaluation may include a graphical representation (e.g., a video), statistical information, and/or a comparison to another user and/or instructor. In some embodiments, the biometric and biomechanical data is communicated wirelessly to one or more devices including a processor, display, and/or data storage medium for further analysis, archiving, and data mining. In some embodiments, the device includes a cellular telephone.

Portable Isometric Neck Assessment System and Method
A portable isometric neck assessment system and method is provided, comprising an isometric neck strength device comprising a measurement component, an anchor line for connecting the isometric neck strength device to a stationary object, and a tension line for connecting the isometric neck strength device to a head strap. Based on an isometric neck movement of a user, the system can generate and record a strength measurement associated with the isometric neck movement of the user, and further wirelessly transmit the strength measurement to an application or storage system.
APPARATUS FOR ASSESSING USER FRAILTY
An apparatus for assessing user frailty is disclosed. In embodiments, the apparatus includes a housing that defines (or is defined by) a body and a handle coupled to the body. The apparatus includes a force sensor at least partially disposed within the handle. The apparatus further includes an inertial sensor at least partially disposed within the housing. The apparatus may further include a user interface device disposed within a cavity of the body. The user interface device may be coupled to the force sensor and the inertial sensor via one or more signal paths. In embodiments, the user interface device includes a controller with a touchscreen coupled to the controller.
BIOMETRIC INFORMATION ACQUISITION METHOD, PROGRAM, AND BIOMETRIC INFORMATION ACQUISITION METHOD
A biometric information acquisition method according to the present disclosure includes an application step and an acquisition step. The application step includes applying an electrical signal to an organism’s muscle. The acquisition step includes acquiring information about the organism’s muscle as biometric information based on a change rate with respect to an impedance of the electrical signal applied in the application step.
Method and Device for Measuring Forces
A method for measuring the force generated by at least one athlete jumping on a measuring platform includes generating exercise data for jumping exercises. The exercise data is presented to the athlete. As the athlete performs jumping exercises on the measuring platform, a jumping force of the jumping exercises is measured and recorded as measurement data for the measured jumping force. The measurement data is sent to a data processing system that evaluates the measurement data and generates performance data from the measurement data. Expert data is determined from the performance data, and either the performance data or the expert data or both, are outputted to the athlete or to someone monitoring the performance of the athlete.
ELECTRONIC VAPOR PROVISION SYSTEM AND METHOD
An electronic vapor provision system (EVPS) can include an electronic vapor provision device; at least a first sensor configured to generate information about how firmly a user is holding the device; and a control processor configured to modify one or more operational parameters of the EVPS responsive to the information about how firmly the user is holding the device.
ORAL CAVITY SENSOR
An oral cavity sensor that includes a sensor portion having a flexible first resin layer and a pair of electrode portions on the flexible first resin layer and configured to measure pressure; and a flexible second resin layer covering the pair of electrode portions, wherein the flexible first resin layer is softer than the flexible second resin layer.
Systems and methods for diagnosis and treatment of swallowing disorders
A system is provided for monitoring patients with dysphagia, or swallowing impairments, that monitors muscle movement during intensive swallowing exercises to provide adjuvant visual feedback from surface electromyography.
