A train information announcement system of the present invention includes vehicle radio sets VRS1 and VRS2 which performs wireless communication, and is installed on a train 1 which moves on a railroad track R, wayside radio sets WRS1 to WRS5 arranged along the railroad track R, and an information providing means which provides train information announcements at a station at predetermined timing based on information about a train location obtained by the wireless communication between the vehicle radio sets VRS1 and VRS2 and the wayside radio sets WRS1 to WRS5.

Vehicle control system and method

A system is provided that includes a first communication device located at or associated with a determined zone and can accept field data; a second communication device located on or associated with at least one vehicle approaching or traversing the determined zone; and at least one controller or a control system. The controller or control system can receive the field data from the first communication device; convert at least a portion of the field data to a message comprising vehicle data; and provide the vehicle data to a vehicle controller or a vehicle operator, and thereby can control or operate the at least one vehicle based using the provided vehicle data.

Control device, control system, railway vehicle and associated control method

A control device is for at least two traction engines of a railway vehicle. The control device includes an estimation module configured to estimate a traction power requirement of the rail vehicle as a function of at least one position signal of the rail vehicle, a determination module configured to determine a required operating state of each engine based on the power requirement, an adaptation module configured to determine, from the required operating state of each engine, an adapted operating state of said engine as a function of at least one specific parameter relating to the operation of the rail vehicle, and an emission module configured to emit a control signal to each engine.

Train-information management device and train-information management method

A central device includes an information replacing unit. When the information replacing unit detects, on the basis of contact information acquired from an electric coupler provided in a coupled vehicle in a formation B having a train-information management device that manages vehicle information in accordance with the Ethernet® protocol, that a formation A that includes a train-information management device that manages vehicle information in accordance with the ARCNET protocol is coupled to the formation B, then the information replacing unit replaces vehicle information from the formation A with vehicle information in accordance with the Ethernet® protocol; outputs the replaced vehicle information to the formation B; replaces the vehicle information from the formation B with the vehicle information in accordance with the ARCNET protocol; and outputs the replaced vehicle information to the formation A.

MULTIPLE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM

A system includes an energy management system disposed onboard a vehicle system configured to travel on a route during a trip. The energy management system is configured to receive trip information that includes one or more constraints including at least one of speed, distance, or time restrictions for the vehicle system along the route. The energy management system is further configured to generate a trip plan for controlling movement of the vehicle system along the route during the trip. The trip plan is generated based on the one or more constraints. The trip plan has a plan speed profile that designates speeds for the vehicle system according to at least one of distance or time during the trip. The energy management system is further configured to control movement of the vehicle system during the trip according to the plan speed profile of the trip plan.

Input of ETCS data into a rail vehicle

A method for inputting ETCS data into a rail vehicle inputs the ETCS data by using an apparatus which is separate from the rail vehicle. The apparatus can, for example, be constructed to be mobile and the ETCS data can be input flexibly at different locations and be transmitted to the rail vehicle, for example, by SMS. The advantage of this approach is that delays resulting from the inputting of ETCS data can be reduced and thus the rail vehicle reaches a “Start of Mission” state more quickly. An apparatus for inputting ETCS data into a rail vehicle and a rail vehicle with an ETCS device are also provided.

METHOD FOR MONITORING AND DIAGNOSING COMPONENTS OF A RAIL VEHICLE BY MEANS OF AN EXTENSIBLE EVALUATION SOFTWARE

A method for monitoring and diagnosing components of a rail vehicle, as a singular rail vehicle or as part of a rail vehicle train consisting of a plurality of rail vehicles, with regard to the necessary repair or maintenance, as appropriate, of at least one component, in which at least one measuring device captures at least one measurement variable, which is relevant to an assessment of a necessary repair or maintenance, as appropriate, of the component, is performed in which supplementation, extension, modification or adaptation of evaluation software implemented in an evaluation device is performed based on instructions, data and/or software modules sent from a control center to the evaluation device.

POWER CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE SYSTEM

A power control system for a vehicle system identifies coupler nodes in the vehicle system for travel of the vehicle system along a route. The coupler nodes represent slack states of couplers between vehicles in the vehicle system. The system also determines combined driving parameters at locations along the route where a state of the coupler nodes in the vehicle system will change within the vehicle system during the upcoming movement of the vehicle system. The system determines a restriction on operations of the vehicle system to control the coupler nodes during the upcoming movement of the vehicle system and to distribute the combined driving parameters among two or more of the vehicles.

Train communication network

An access point for a communication network is disclosed. The access point may have a communications processor configured to receive signals from a different access point of the communication network, a cable connected to the communications processor, and at least one attenuator connected to the cable upstream of the communications processor. The at least one attenuator may be configured to selectively attenuate incoming signals received via the cable before the incoming signals are received by the communications process. The access point may also have a transmission amplifier connected to the cable downstream of the communications processor and configured to amplify outgoing signals generated by the communications processor by about 3:1.
