Method and system for operating a vehicle system to reduce wheel and track wear
09908545 · 2018-03-06 · ·

A method includes determining a location of a vehicle system traveling on a track during a first trip relative to a curve in the track. The method also includes monitoring a temperature profile at a contact interface between a wheel of the vehicle system and a rail of the track that contacts the wheel as the vehicle system traverses the curve in the track. The temperature profile is based, at least in part, on a first speed profile of the vehicle system during the first trip. The method further includes analyzing the temperature profile to detect a flanging event between the wheel and the rail as the vehicle system traverses along the curve in response to the temperature profile indicating that a flange of the wheel engages a side of the rail.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MEASURING A TRACK
20250050920 · 2025-02-13 ·

A method for the contactless detection of a position of a measurement device that can be moved by a rail running gear on a track relative to at least one rail of the track. A projection of a laser beam that is projected onto the at least one rail and onto the inner side of a wheel of the rail running gear is detected by way of a camera. A detected position of the measurement device with respect to the wheel inner side is evaluated by an evaluation device. The inner side of the wheel disc is used as a reference base for determining at least one position value of the measurement device.

Complex network-based high speed train system safety evaluation method

The invention discloses a complex network-based high speed train system safety evaluation method. The method includes steps as follows: (1) constructing a network model of a physical structure of a high speed train system, and constructing a functional attribute degree of a node based on the network model; (2) extracting a functional attribute degree, a failure rate and mean time between failures of a component as an input quantity, conducting an SVM training using LIBSVM software; (3) conducting a weighted kNN-SVM judgment: an unclassifiable sample point is judged so as to obtain a safety level of the high speed train system. For a high speed train system having a complicated physical structure and operation conditions, the method can evaluate the degree of influences on system safety when a state of a component in the system changes. The experimental result shows that the algorithm has high accuracy and good practicality.
