AUTOMATED STATION FOR A PNEUMATIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM FOR HISTOLOGICAL SAMPLES, CONFIGURED FOR THE AUTOMATED LOADING AND/OR UNLOADING OF HISTOLOGICAL SAMPLES, AND PROCESS FOR TRANSPORTING AND HANDLING HISTOLOGICAL SAMPLES
A pneumatic transport system for histological samples includes a transport tube within which a carrier containing samples is transported. A station for loading/unloading the samples into/from the carrier is arranged at one tube end. When the carrier is arriving at the station, a blower of the system is deactivated and the carrier is braked, allowing stopping within the station against a stop member. Thereafter a motor imparts, via the stop member, rotation to said carrier until a carrier door is at an angular position substantially corresponding to an angular position of a station door. Thereafter, the carrier is stopped and the doors are opened by an actuator, this enabling activation of an operating cycle of loading/unloading of the samples. Upon completion, the doors are closed, a carrier locking device is deactivated and the blower is activated, allowing departure of the carrier from the station and its transport within the tube.
System and method for bodily fluid capture and preservation
System and associated method for capturing, preserving, and transporting a bodily fluid, including a collection jar having a base body, a lid body, and a plunger, the plunger housing a preservative when in a first plunger position and permitting a release of the preservative into an internal cavity of the collection jar when in a second plunger position, where the plunger moves from the first plunger position to the second plunger position by pushing the plunger into the internal cavity, and a transportation packaging having an outer container, at least one vacuum insulated panel, at least one phase change material bottle, and at least one collection jar holding tray, where the phase change material bottle has an indented portion corresponding to an indented portion of the collection jar holding tray, where the collection jar is configured for placement in the at least one collection jar holding tray during transportation.
RELEASING STOPPER, CONTAINER PROVIDED WITH STOPPER AND KITS AND RELEASING METHOD ASSOCIATED THERETO
A releasing stopper for a container, the stopper including a first body configured to be directly coupled with the container and comprising a coupling element for allowing the removable fastening of the stopper on the container; a second body, axially movable with respect to the first body along a predefined axis of the stopper and cooperating with the first body for defining a reservoir at least temporarily insulated from the outer environment, a membrane or collapsible septum constituting at least a portion of the reservoir wall, openable and/or breakable for allowing the communication of the reservoir with the outer environment. The stopper includes a first closed configuration, wherein the reservoir is insulated from the outer environment, and a second open configuration, wherein the reservoir is in communication with the outer environment, and wherein the membrane or collapsible septum is opened by a perforation or opening element distinct from the stopper.
Biopsy System having Tissue Sample Impedance Measurement
A biopsy system includes a biopsy probe configured to sever tissue to acquire a tissue sample. The biopsy probe has biopsy needle portion having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen. A vacuum source is coupled to the lumen. The vacuum source is configured to generate a vacuum to transport the tissue sample through the lumen and expel the tissue sample from the lumen at the proximal end of the biopsy needle portion. An arrangement of compression plates is configured to receive the tissue sample from the proximal end of the biopsy probe and is operable to compress the tissue sample. The arrangement of compression plates has a plurality of impedance measurement electrodes. An impedance measurement circuit is connected to the plurality of impedance measurement electrodes.
Ingestible device recovery system
Various embodiments are described herein for a recovery tool kit system including a recovery tool and an associated retrieval method for retrieving and storing an ingestible device.
CONTAINER ASSEMBLY FOR COLLECTING BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS
The present invention relates to a container assembly for collecting and transporting a tissue sample. The container includes a container having a chamber therein for receiving the tissue sample. The container assembly includes a cap configured to be attached to the container to close off the chamber. The cap includes a base section, which is configured to be attached to the container, and a movable section, which is movably coupled to the base section. The base section and movable section are configured to form a reservoir therebetween, the reservoir being sized and shaped so as to contain a preservation solution. The base section and the movable section are configured such that the preservation solution is discharged into the chamber from the reservoir when the movable section is moved relative to the base section from a closed position to an open position.
IN VITRO DIAGNOSTIC SAMPLE TUBES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A diagnostic sample tube, comprising a tube body having a tube cavity to receive a test sample; and a tube body lid; the tube body and the tube body lid are formed as a single piece; a mechanical fastening mechanism formed with the single piece, the mechanical fastening mechanism comprising an engagement protrusion and an engagement protrusion receiver; wherein, when the mechanical fastening mechanism is fastened, the mechanical fastening mechanism holds the tube body and the tube body lid in a closed position relative to one another with the cavity closed; and wherein, when the mechanical fastening mechanism is fastened, the engagement protrusion receiver surrounds a longitudinal length of the engagement protrusion.
All-in-one self test kit
