An embodiment chassis frame includes a plurality of partitions extending downwardly from an upper frame and having lower portions and a reinforcing member detachably connected to the lower portions of adjacent ones of the partitions, the reinforcing member including a first end portion and a second end portion opposing the first end portion, the first end portion and the second end portion detachably connected to the lower portions of the corresponding partitions, respectively, and a second reinforcing bracket at least partially surrounding an exterior surface of the second end portion, the second reinforcing bracket detachably connected to the lower portion of the corresponding partition through a second bolt and a second nut.

A scrum type side sill includes: a side sill inner located on a side surface of a center floor, wherein the center floor forms a bottom of a vehicle body; a side sill outer coupled to the side sill inner and configured to form a side sill inner space; and a plurality of scrum members provided in the side sill inner space in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

An axle carrier for a motor vehicle is disclosed having at least two attachment points, a metallic upper shell and a lower shell of fiber composite material coupled to the metallic upper shell. A first load path extending through the metallic upper shell between the at least two attachment points in an edge region, and a second load path shorter that the first load path extending through the lower shell.

A thermally insulated floor for a trailer includes a layer of parallel support beams. Each support beam is oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to a forward direction of the trailer. A substantially planar panel of thermally insulating material is disposed on and supported by the layer of parallel support beams. A substantially planar layer of extruded aluminum is disposed on and supported by the panel of thermally insulating material. The support beams, the panel of thermally insulating material, and the layer of extruded aluminum are secured together.

Illustratively, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a vehicle that includes an entrance to an interior compartment. A step assembly is located adjacent the entrance of the vehicle and includes at least one step and at least one riser. The at least one riser is attached to and substantially perpendicular to the at least one step. The step assembly also includes an opening that allows access behind the step assembly. A lid is provided that includes a hinge to allow selective movement of the lid between open and closed positions with respect to the opening in the step assembly. A securement is attached to the underside surface of the lid to hold the lid to the step assembly. This securement, however, does not extend upward from the top surface of the lid.

Illustratively, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a vehicle that includes an entrance to an interior compartment. A step assembly is located adjacent the entrance of the vehicle and includes at least one step and at least one riser. The at least one riser is attached to and substantially perpendicular to the at least one step. The step assembly also includes an opening that allows access behind the step assembly. A lid is provided that includes a hinge to allow selective movement of the lid between open and closed positions with respect to the opening in the step assembly. A securement is attached to the underside surface of the lid to hold the lid to the step assembly. This securement, however, does not extend upward from the top surface of the lid.

A removable panel retainer includes a flexible substrate having a surface defining a first axis. A clip member is moveably mounted to the flexible substrate in a direction substantially parallel to the first axis. A release member is moveably mounted relative to the flexible substrate along a second axis that is distinct from the first axis. Shifting the release member towards the flexible substrate releases the clip member to shift along the first axis.

A pickup truck box assembly includes a pair of longitudinal frame rails, an extruded cross-member, and a truck bed. The cross-member has a uniform longitudinal cross-section assembled perpendicular to the rails and defines a rectilinear profile with a front flange extending from a cross-member upper portion on a front side and a rear flange extending from the upper portion on a rear side. The truck bed is secured on top of the flanges and the cross-member upper portion. The cross-member may include a first end adjacent a first wheel well defined by the truck bed and a second end adjacent a second wheel well defined by the truck bed such that the cross-member spans between the wheel wells. The ends may be spaced from their respective wheel wells a distance selected to provide space for a truck box inner panel.
