The device additionally includes at least one magnet configured to engage a metallic target, and a capture element received in the base assembly and disposed adjacent to the at least one magnet. The capture element is configured to at least partially surround the metallic target engaged by the at least one magnet. The device further includes an outer tube configured to move relative to the elongate base between a locking position in which a distal end of the outer tube is adjacent the capture element and the at least one magnet to secure the metallic target therebetween, and an unlocking position in which the distal end of the outer tube is spaced from the capture element and the at least one magnet.
THERMAL MECHANISM TO PREVENT REPROCESSING OR REUSE OF MECHANICAL SURGICAL DEVICES
A surgical apparatus comprising: a mechanism that is configured to perform an operational motion of the surgical apparatus; and at least one transformation member having an original shape and a deformed shape, the at least one transformation member connecting the mechanism together, when the at least one transformation member is in the deformed shape so that the mechanism is capable of performing the operational motion; and wherein after the transformation member is subject a transition temperature, the at least one transformation member changes from the deformed shape to the original shape and disengages a portion of the mechanism so that the mechanism is prevented from performing the operational motion.
Scalp clip gun
A scalp clip gun, comprising a housing, a magazine, a propulsion mechanism and a locking mechanism. A positioning protrusion is provided at the front end of the housing. A first end of the magazine is provided with a slot, and the slot is cooperatively connected to the positioning protrusion. The propulsion mechanism comprises a trigger, guide rail, a tension spring, a transmission rack, and a driver. The transmission rack is arranged inside the housing and may slide horizontally relative to the housing. The guide rail is arranged in a through-hole of the driver. The driver may move forward relative to the guide rail. The tail end of the guide rail is fixed by means of the locking mechanism and scalp clips are slidingly arranged on the guide rail. The scalp clip gun may quickly and continuously eject the scalp clips.
SURGICAL STAPLING DEVICE
A surgical stapling device (10) includes a tool assembly (16, 116) that is mounted for articulation between a non-articulated position and articulated positions. In order to minimize wobbling of the tool assembly (16, 116) in the non-articulated position of the tool assembly (16, 116), the surgical stapling device (10) includes a mounting assembly (20, 120) that includes retention structure to retain the tool assembly (16, 116) in the non-articulated position until a predetermined force is applied to the tool assembly (16, 116).
Surgical instrument and method
A surgical instrument includes a member including a body engageable with a longitudinal element to fix the longitudinal element with the body. The member further includes a distal portion having a guide including an arcuate surface being engageable with the longitudinal element. An actuator is connected with the member to incrementally tension the longitudinal element. Surgical systems, implants, spinal constructs and methods are disclosed.
SURGICAL DRILL WITH AUTOMATIC RETRACTION AND ASSOCIATED METHODS AND SYSTEMS
The present technology relates to surgical drilling devices, and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, a surgical drilling device includes a drill bit and a retraction mechanism. The retraction mechanism can include a housing, a slide assembly within the housing and operably coupled to the drill bit, a spring element engaging the slide assembly, and a locking element coupled to the slide assembly. The locking element can be movable between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration based on an amount of force applied by the drill bit to the slide assembly. When in the locked configuration, the locking element can secure the slide assembly to the housing. When in the unlocked configuration, the locking element can allow the spring element to displace the slide assembly proximally within the housing to retract the drill bit.
Soft tissue cutting instrument with retractable blade or hook
A system and method for cutting soft tissue with a retractable surgical cutting device (10). The device (10) includes a handle (12) having a first channel (24) extending therethrough and a switch (18) located thereon. The switch (18) is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. An actuator (26) with a blade (16) extends through the first channel (24) and connects to the switch (18) within the handle (12). An outer sheath (14) is connected to the handle (12) and surrounds the actuator (26) and at least a portion of the blade (16). A drive mechanism (28) is connected to the switch (18) within the handle (12) such that when the switch (18) moves from the retracted position to the extended position, the actuator (26) moves from a retracted position to an extended position. In the retracted position, the blade (16) can be entirely within the outer sheath (14) and in the extended position, at least a portion of the blade (16) is positioned outside of the outer sheath (14).
Surgical stapler shaft formed of segments of different materials
A surgical instrument includes an end effector and a shaft. The end effector includes a first jaw movable relative to the second jaw. The shaft extends proximally from the end effector. The shaft includes a proximal coupler, a tube, and a distal coupler. The proximal coupler includes a distal coupling feature adjacent a distal end. The tube includes proximal and distal coupling features that are adjacent the respective proximal and distal ends of the tube. The proximal coupling feature is configured to engage the distal coupling feature of the proximal coupler to securably lock the tube and the proximal coupler together. The distal coupler includes a proximal coupling feature adjacent the proximal end of the distal coupler. The proximal coupling feature of the distal coupler is configured to engage the distal coupling feature of the tube to securably lock the distal coupler and the tube together.
