MEDICAL IMPLANT, DELIVERY DEVICE, METHOD OF PRODUCING A MEDICAL IMPLANT, AND METHOD OF DELIVERING A MEDICAL IMPLANT
The invention relates to a medical implant (1) that is adapted to repair or close defect (D), in particular an opening in a ventricular, atrial, or septal wall (W). The medical implant (1) may, in particular, be a patch. It comprises an adhesive composition (6). It further comprises two states, wherein in the first state, the medical implant (1) can be deployed to an implant site while the adhesive composition (6) is inactive. It can be brought into a second state by an activation mechanism. The adhesive composition (6), in the second state, is curable by a curing mechanism.
IMPLANT-ADHERING TECHNIQUES
An adhesive-applicator, and an implant that includes a wall formed from a porous fabric, are transcatheterally advanced to a heart of a subject. While a nozzle of the adhesive-applicator is disposed within an interior of the implant, the external surface of the wall is adhered to tissue of the heart by using the adhesive-applicator to apply an adhesive via the nozzle to the interior, such that a portion of the adhesive passes through the porous fabric of the wall to the external surface. Other embodiments are also described.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DISPENSING FLOWABLE HEMOSTATS THAT INCORPORATE SAFETY MECHANISMS FOR PREVENTING AIR EMBOLISMS
A dispensing system includes a hollow tube having an outer wall with an air vent formed in the outer wall. A valve including a flexible flap is disposed inside the tube. The flexible flap, normally biased into a retracted position, is moveable between an extended position for sealing the air vent and the retracted position for unsealing the air vent. A syringe connector interconnects a syringe with the proximal end of the hollow tube and defines a fluid flow path. A flowable viscous fluid is disposed within the syringe. When a syringe plunger is depressed, the flowable viscous fluid is expelled from the syringe and forced through the fluid flow path and into the proximal end of the hollow tube. When the flowable viscous fluid engages the flexible flap, the flexible flap is forced to move into a position that seals the air vent.
Mechanical mesh fixation device and curvilinear tack system
Devices and methods for affixing reinforcing material to a fascial incision in an abdominal wall to reinforce and augment closures thereof. The device includes first and second arms, each having a proximal end and a distal end extending away from a housing with a length therebetween. The distal end of the first arm is spaced from the distal end of the second arm such that the first and second arms are engageable with reinforcing material on opposing sides of a fascial incision. One or more fixation elements are deployable from the distal end of at least one of the first and second arms to affix the reinforcing material on opposing sides of the fascial incision.
Method and balloon catheter
There is provided with a method. A cardia and a pylorus of a stomach of a patient is blocked. The stomach is inflated. The stomach is secured within an abdominal cavity of the patient.
Sealant syringe assembly
A sealant syringe assembly includes a first syringe including a plurality of chambers and discharging a first solution which is a mixture of a buffer solution and compound powder; a reaction solution syringe including at least one chamber and discharging a reaction solution capable of reacting with the first solution; and a connector for connecting the first syringe and the reaction solution syringe to mix and discharge the first solution and the reaction solution. The first syringe includes three packing members provided inside the first syringe; a passage provided in the inner circumferential surface of the first syringe; and a plunger for providing a pressure to one of the packing members.
Biodegradable bone glue
The present invention is directed to bioresorbable polymers to be used as bone and tissue adhesives. The present invention is also directed to the synthesis of bioresorbable polymeric molecules bearing adhesive moieties and the use of such compounds in methods to glue and stabilize fractured bones and damaged tissues. The present invention is also directed to the use of such compounds as adhesive sealants for applications in wound care. The present invention is also directed to the use of such compounds as biodegradable ink for applications in tissue engineering and 3D printing. The present invention also relates to the use of such compounds as drug delivery platforms.
Endoscopic medical device for dispensing materials and method of use
A medical device including an application device with a first fluid path and a container movably attached to the application device. The container and the application device have a second fluid path therethrough, the container includes an inner chamber that is intermediate proximal and distal portions of the second fluid path, the inner chamber is fluidly isolated from the proximal portion of the second fluid path at a first position of the container, and the inner chamber is fluidly coupled to the proximal and distal portions of the second fluid path at a second position of the container. The first fluid path bypasses the container and the passage of fluid through the first fluid path is separately controllable from the passage of fluid through the second fluid path.
Apparatus and method to seal a tissue tract
The invention relates to a device and method for blocking air contributing to pneumothorax during a lung biopsy.
TISSUE WRAP DEVICE WITH ATTACHMENT FEATURES
The present disclosure provides tissue wrap devices with embedded three dimensional attachment features, methods of manufacturing three-dimensional attachment features for tissue wrap devices, and methods of using a nerve wrap device to protect a damaged nerve. Tissue wrap devices of the present disclosure may include a sheet of biocompatible material, the sheet having a first side, a second side, a middle portion, a first outer portion, and a second outer portion, the first side of the first outer portion being configured to overlap and interface with the second side of the second outer portion when the sheet is transitioned to a rolled configuration; wherein the first side of the first outer portion comprises a plurality of three dimensional attachment features; and wherein the plurality of three dimensional attachment features are configured to engage with the second side of the second outer portion to maintain the sheet in the rolled configuration.
