DEVICE

A seal comprises a first sealing member and a second sealing member. The sealing members each have an accessway to facilitate access from one side of the sealing member to the other side of the sealing member. The accessways are offset to facilitate sealed access of an object through the sealing members.

GUIDE CATHETER AND METHOD OF USE

A system for manipulating a guide catheter within a patient's nasal passages or sinus cavities includes a guide catheter formed from an elongate flexible member having a lumen passing there through. A wire guide is slidably disposed within the lumen of the guide catheter. The system further includes a steering member fixedly secured to a proximal end of the wire guide and a proximal hub secured to a proximal end of the guide catheter. The system further includes a recessed handle having a first recess for fixedly receiving the proximal hub of the guide catheter and a second recess for receiving the steering member, the second recess being dimensioned to permit axial and rotational movement of the steering member while disposed in the second recess.

One embodiment is directed to a geometric adaptor apparatus for assisting with translumenal vascular access, comprising a dilator adaptor member having proximal and distal ends and defining a dilator adaptor lumen therethrough, wherein the dilator adaptor lumen is defined by an inner diameter profile sized to accommodate insertion of one or more portions of a guidewire, and wherein the dilator adaptor is further defined by an outer diameter profile sized to accommodate at least partial insertion of the proximal end of the dilator adaptor into a dilator member lumen formed through a dilator member, the dilator member being coupleable to an introducer catheter member through an introducer member lumen formed through the introducer member.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DERMATOLOGICAL TREATMENT

Exemplary methods and systems can be provided for resurfacing of skin that include formation of a plurality of small holes, e.g., having widths greater than about 0.2 mm and less than about 0.7 mm or 0.5 mm, using a mechanical apparatus. Compressive and/or tensile forces can then be applied to the treated region of skin as the damage heals to facilitate hole closure, and provide enhanced and/or directional shrinkage of the treated skin area.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A STEERABLE INSTRUMENT AND SUCH STEERABLE INSTRUMENT
20180008805 · 2018-01-11 · ·

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a steerable instrument for endoscopic and/or invasive type applications, the instrument including an elongated tubular body having a proximal end part, a distal end part and an intermediate part between proximal and distal end parts, the proximal end part having at least one actuation proximal zone. The distal end part has at least one flexible distal zone, and the elongated tubular body is configured such that a movement of an actuation proximal zone is transferred to a corresponding flexible distal zone for a corresponding movement thereof. The elongated tubular body includes an inner, outer, and intermediate cylindrical elements having longitudinal elements between the inner and outer cylindrical elements. Inner, outer and intermediate cylindrical elements are coupled so movement of an actuation proximal zone is transferred by the longitudinal elements of one of the intermediate cylindrical elements to a corresponding flexible distal zone.

TUBE INTRODUCERS AND ASSEMBLIES

An introducer for a tracheostomy tube is formed of several articulated sections (24) that can be changed from a relatively flexible state to a more rigid state by tightening a tension member extending along the introducer using an actuator at its machine end. In its flexible state the introducer can be inserted into and removed from the tube. The introducer is put in its more rigid state for use in inserting the tube into a tracheostomy. Alternatively or additionally the introducer could have several gripping rings on its outside towards its patient end and two elongate members that can be slid relative to one another to enlarge the patient end so that the gripping rings engage and grip the inside of the tube, thereby enabling the introducer to pull the tube through the tracheostomy from its patient end.

Medical instrument and associated method

A medical instrument includes a handle, a trocar in communication with the handle, and a cannula in communication with the trocar and the handle. The cannula is engaged (locked) with the handle when linearly displaced proximally towards the handle and, the cannula is disengaged (unlocked) from the handle when linearly displaced distally away from the handle. The cannula is linearly reciprocated, between the locked position and the unlocked position, along a linear travel path defined parallel to a longitudinal axis of the trocar such that the cannula is prohibited and permitted to articulate about the longitudinal axis of the trocar, and relative to the handle, respectively. Advantageously, the cannula is locked and unlocked from the trocar by without requiring an external force exerted generally transverse to trocar and/or cannula—thereby permitting a user to lock/unlock the cannula, relative to the trocar, with one hand.

SAFETY ISOLATION BAGS FOR INTRA ABDOMINAL, ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURES, POWER MORCELLATION AND VAGINAL MORCELLATION

A safety isolation bag is a pneumoperitoneum device for intra-abdominal, endoscopic procedures, power morcellation and vaginal morcellation for facilitating safe removal of body mass from within the abdominal cavity. It comprises of an expandable and collapsible enclosed internal space (5) having a neck portion (4) with mouth (3) having retractor means (2) and provided with markings, colour coded indicating how much the bag is to be pulled out for the removal of large, medium and small tissue mass, and also having one or more non-return valves (6) attached with long looped threads (8) on one of the surface in the wall of the safety isolation bag below the neck as a means for introducing the surgical instruments and accessories into the enclosed internal space at the right place and to close the puncture hole after the procedure. It is made of one or more layers of flexible biocompatible/medical grade plastic film.

DEVICE FOR MEDICAL PROCEDURE LOCALIZATION AND/OR INSERTION

A device (100) for medical procedure localization and/or insertion that can be dimensionally adjusted for different patient sizes and properly aligned and stabilized using anatomical landmarks. The device (100) for medical procedure localization and/or insertion provides an adjustable template that indexes the site of interest at the intersection of a first axis or plane and a second axis or plane. An embodiment is disclosed in which a first axis is the axillary line through the patient's axilla (armpit) and iliac crest (pelvis), and a second axis is the patient's ideal horizontal nipple line. The intersection of the first and second axes is the 4th or 5th intercostal space, into which a needle and/or chest tube may be placed for decompression.
