Marine navigational light fixture having sub-housing with built-in cutoffs

A marine navigational light fixture includes a light source and a cutoff sub-housing holding the light source. The cutoff sub-housing has a main frame having first and second laterally opposite sides; first and second sidewalls projecting from the first and second sides of the main frame, respectively; and first and second cutoff surfaces located on the first and second sidewalls, respectively. The first and second cutoff surfaces are configured to provide practical cutoff of light emitted from the light source outside of a specified arc of visibility. The marine navigational light fixture also includes a main housing holding the cutoff sub-housing. A luminaire subassembly for the marine navigational light fixture includes a colored component having a color that is in the same color family as a color of light emitted from the luminaire subassembly. The colored component can be a lens, a filter cap, a PCB, and/or a telltale.

Arc light

An arched light source for illuminating an area comprising a base and an arched support extending from the base. The arched support has an upper edge corresponding to an arc having a center below the base and a lower edge meeting the base corresponding to a chord of the arc. The arched support includes a groove along the upper edge of the arched support. The arched light support includes a light source disposed in the groove and a transparent lens extending the length of the groove and sealing the light source within the groove. The light source may be a plurality of discrete LEDs spaced a distance apart, the plurality of LEDS extending substantially the entire length of the groove. The color emitted by the light source may be controllable by the user. The arched support may be opaque. The base may be mountable to a marine vessel.

Lighted stanchion base for a marine vessel

A method for providing lighting to a boat surface comprising providing an LED light source in a transparent disk and placing the disk on the boat surface in a location where the seat pedestal is to be mounted with the disk fastener openings aligned with the boat surface openings. The method includes connecting a power source to the light source, placing the seat pedestal on the transparent disk with the seat pedestal fastener openings aligned with the disk fastener openings and inserting the at least one fastener through the seat pedestal openings, disk openings and boat surface openings. The fastener secures the seat pedestal and disk to the boat surface wherein the transparent disk bears the weight of the seat pedestal. Upon providing power to the light source, light travels from the light source to the circumferential edge of the transparent disk, illuminating the area adjacent the seat pedestal.
