ENDOSCOPE DEVICES COMPRISING A MOVEABLE CAMERA
Disclosed is an endoscopic device comprising an insertion tube, a distal tip, and at least one camera located at an initial location on or in the distal tip or the insertion tube. The endoscopic device is characterized in that it comprises a mechanical arrangement that is activated from the proximal end of the endoscopic device and is configured to do at least one of the following: (a) to move the at least one camera from the initial location to one or more different locations on, in or spaced away from the distal tip or the insertion tube; and (b) to change the direction of view of the at least one camera. Also disclosed are methods of performing endoscopic procedures using embodiments of the endoscopic device.
MEDICAL PUNCTURE DEVICE
A medical puncture device includes an elongate shaft having a proximal portion defining a proximal end and a distal portion defining a distal end. The distal portion tapers in outer diameter going towards the distal end to define a dilating tip. A lumen extends through the shaft from the proximal end to the distal end. The shaft includes a first electrical conductor that extends from the proximal portion to the distal portion and is electrically connectable to a radiofrequency generator. A radiofrequency puncture electrode is positioned proud of the distal end and is electrically connected to the first electrical conductor.
ELECTROSURGICAL APPARATUS WITH FLEXIBLE SHAFT
An electrosurgical apparatus is provided including a connector, a flexible shaft, and a distal tip. The connector may further be coupled to an electrosurgical generator and gas supply. The distal tip of the electrosurgical apparatus may be grasped by a grasping tool, such that the orientation and position of the distal tip relative to the shaft may be manipulated to achieve a plurality of positions. The electrosurgical apparatus provides electrosurgical energy and inert gas to an electrode within the distal tip of the electrosurgical apparatus to generate a plasma beam. In one aspect, the distal tip is configured as a sheath that is extendable and retractable over the electrode to expose the electrode when the sheath is in a first position and conceal or cover the electrode when the sheath is in a second position.
RESISTIVE COATING DEVICE AND METHOD
Electrosurgical devices are shown with a coated electrode. Electrosurgical devices and methods of use are shown to provide a higher concentration of energy at different resistance regions within a coating. Electrosurgical devices and methods of use are also shown to utilize heat in an electrode contained by a thermally insulative coating to provide a second tissue modification.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND APPARATUS
An electrosurgical instrument, comprising: an elongate probe comprising a coaxial cable for conveying radiofrequency (RF) and/or microwave frequency electromagnetic (EM) energy, and a probe tip connected at the distal end of the coaxial cable for receiving the RF and/or microwave energy; a gas passage for conveying gas to the probe tip; and an apparatus for debriding biological tissue. The coaxial cable comprises an inner conductor, outer conductor and dielectric material separating the conductors. The probe tip comprises a first electrode connected to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable and a second electrode connected to the outer conductor. The first electrode and the second electrode are arranged to produce an electric field from the received RF and/or microwave frequency EM energy across a flow path of gas received from the gas passage to produce a thermal or non-thermal plasma in an area outward from the probe tip.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERMANENT FEMALE CONTRACEPTION
Medical devices and methods for treating and occluding a female patient's fallopian tubes to provide permanent birth control or sterilization.
LACERATION SYSTEM AND DEVICE, AND METHODS FOR LACERATION
A laceration device for use in medical procedures includes a shaft having a proximal portion defining a proximal end, and an opposed distal portion defining a distal end. A perforation electrode is at the distal end, and a first electrical connector extends proximally from the perforation electrode for connection to a power source. An outwardly extending barb is positioned proximal of the distal end. The barb has an inner end proximate the shaft and an outer end opposite the inner end. A laceration electrode is proximal of and adjacent the inner end of the barb, and a second electrical connector extends proximally from the laceration electrode for connection to the power source.
VISUALIZATION APPARATUS FOR PROPERTY CHANGE OF A TISSUE
The present invention relates to a visualization apparatus (1) comprising a signal processor (2) for processing measurement signals from an ultrasound measurement (3) and a rendering device (4) coupled to a processor for rendering a representation for discerning a region of tissue with changed property (42) upon energy application to the tissue from a region with unchanged property (41) within two extremities (44,47) of the representation indicative of two boundaries defining the tissue thickness. The rendering of the tissue with changed property (42) and the tissue with unchanged property (41) with different visual aspects is readily absorbable by a person who applies energy to the tissue.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR DETECTING TISSUE AND FOREIGN OBJECTS DURING A SURGICAL OPERATION
A surgical instrument is disclosed herein. The surgical instrument can include an end effector that includes jaws configured to transition between an opened condition and a closed condition, a plurality of electrodes positioned within the jaws of the end effector, a control circuit, and a memory configured to store an algorithm configured to cause the control circuit to determine an impedance signal based on signals received from the plurality of electrodes, detect a media positioned between the jaws of the end effector based on the determined impedance signal, determine a position of the detected media based on the received signals, and generate an alert associated with the detected media and the determined position.
Dermatological systems and methods with handpiece for coaxial pulse delivery and temperature sensing
Dermatological systems and methods for providing a therapeutic laser treatment using a handpiece delivering one or more therapeutic laser pulses to a target skin area along a first optical path, and sensing the temperature of the target skin area based on infrared energy radiating from the target skin area along a second optical path generally counterdirectional to the first office action, and sharing a common optical axis with the first optical path for at least a portion of the first and second optical paths. The handpiece may also provide contact cooling for a first skin area comprising the target skin area.
