Signaling of sterile adapter and tool attachment for use in a robotic surgical system

Generally, a system for use in a robotic surgical system may be used to determine an attachment state between a tool driver, sterile adapter, and surgical tool of the system. The system may include sensors used to generate attachment data corresponding to the attachment state. The attachment state may be used to control operation of the tool driver and surgical tool. In some variations, one or more of the attachment states may be visually output to an operator using one or more of the tool driver, sterile adapter, and surgical tool. In some variations, the tool driver and surgical tool may include electronic communication devices configured to be in close proximity when the surgical tool is attached to the sterile adapter and tool driver.

Sterile Sleeves For Portable Surgical Systems

A portable surgical system including a sterile enclosure and one or more sterile sleeves made of a composite-material are disclosed. The sterile sleeves allow for comfortable, user friendly, inexpensive, and effective ways for safely interacting with a sterile environment. The composite-material may include two or more material layers attached to each other. Some of the material layers of the composite material are chosen for their comfort and ease of use whereas the others may be chosen for their impermeability. The composite-material may be impermeable to a set of gases, fluids and substances such as blood, plasma, bacteria, viruses, dust particles, water, human and animal cells, and organic matter.

Surgical drape with canopy

A surgical drape is configured for covering a patient and an ultrasonography probe during surgical treatment of the patient. The surgical drape may comprise a first portion that comprises a canopy portion. The canopy portion can be sized and shaped to at least partially cover a mechanical arm coupled to the ultrasonography probe and a proximal portion of the ultrasonography probe, and the canopy portion can be configured to move with the proximal portion of the ultrasonography probe when the ultrasonography probe is supported by the mechanical arm. A second portion can be coupled to the first portion, in which the second portion is sized and shaped to cover at least a portion of a torso of the patient.

Drape systems, apparatuses and methods are provided. In some aspects a drape may create an impervious barrier for preventing medical contaminants from contaminating a medical table and/or a medical table base. One drape embodiment includes a central portion, a first end cover and a second end cover, and first and second side portions having fold portions for forming troughs. A drape embodiment may include an absorbent surface having a discontinuous section and in inner perimeter for forming a barrier about a medical table base.

Patient isolation system and method

A portable, protective enclosure for coupling to a patient support includes a collapsible frame, a canopy drape, a pair of gloves and sleeves configured for receiving hands and arms of a user, and a zipper disposed along one of the side surfaces of the drape, wherein the side surface is not folded about itself when the zipper is in an open state. A pair of filters are disposed on opposing sides of one of the side surfaces of the canopy drape, the filters together providing high efficiency particulate air filtration for at least 99.97% of airborne particulate 0.3 microns in diameter. Gas-permeable media is provided for air intake. A fan in communication with the first and second filters is provided for creating negative pressure in the internal region of the canopy drape, the fan configured to evacuate air from the internal region. A negative pressure indicator also is included.

A disposable medical drape may include a drape and a self-clamping system. A disposable medical drape system may include a drape, a self-clamping system and one or more end drapes. A self-clamping drape may have attached clamps and/or be secured by way of self-clamping clamps. The medical drape system may form a barrier beneath a medical operating room table.

Medical drape with pattern adhesive layers and method of manufacturing same

A medical drape for use with a reduced pressure system for providing reduced pressure to a tissue site is described. In some embodiments, the drape may include a flexible film, and an adhesive layer coupled to the flexible film. The adhesive layer may include a first adhesive disposed on a first portion of the flexible film in a first pattern. The first adhesive can be configured to secure the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The adhesive layer generally includes a second adhesive disposed on a second portion of the flexible film in a second pattern. The second adhesive can be configured to seal the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The first pattern and the second pattern are preferably registered so that the first portion and the second portion are offset to cover substantially different portions of the flexible film.

Surgical drape

A surgical drape for covering at least a portion of a surgical robot arm, the arm comprising at least one drive assembly interface element for transferring drive between the arm and an instrument engageable with the arm, the drape comprising an interface portion locatable between the arm and the instrument when the instrument is engaged with the arm; and a bulk portion encompassing the interface portion; the interface portion and the bulk portion being adjacent one another, the interface portion comprising one or more of a material or configuration having a lower modulus than that of the bulk portion in at least one direction, and a movable portion, the movable portion being movable relative to the bulk portion, so as to permit repeatable movement of a portion of the interface portion relative to the bulk portion.
