MEASURING WEIGHT AND BALANCE AND OPTIMIZING CENTER OF GRAVITY
Systems, computer-implemented methods and/or computer program products that facilitate measuring weight and balance and optimizing center of gravity are provided. In one embodiment, a system 100 utilizes a processor 106 that executes computer implemented components stored in a memory 104. A compression component 108 calculates compression of landing gear struts based on height above ground of an aircraft. A gravity component 110 determines center of gravity based on differential compression of the landing gear struts. An optimization component 112 automatically optimizes the center of gravity to a rear limit of a center of gravity margin.
DYNAMIC BEARING
A dynamic bearing for an aircraft landing gear. The bearing comprises a lug, a shaft comprising a first material, and a bearing surface comprising a second material that is softer than the first material. The bearing surface defines a bore and is arranged to support the shaft when the shaft is movably housed within the bore in use. The bearing surface is defined by the lug or a coating applied to the lug.
Castering wheel landing system for unmanned aerial vehicles
The present disclosure relates to unmanned aerial vehicles (“UAVs”), systems, and methods for efficiently and safely landing while improving flight performance. In particular, the disclosure incudes a light-weight, gravity-fed, self-deploying landing gear assembly that aligns to the direction of the runway upon landing. For example, the landing gear assembly can include a pin switch and a tear-through barrier that releases and deploys the landing gear assembly. Additionally, the landing gear assembly can include castering wheels that rotate (i.e., swivel) while the UAV is in flight. Furthermore, the landing gear assembly can include friction-disks to reduce the rotation of the castering wheels when the landing gear assembly contacts the ground and receives the weight of the UAV. Moreover, the landing gear assembly can detect that the UAV has landed and can signal the UAV to initiate a roll stop mechanism.
MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR AIRCRAFT, AIRCRAFT HAVING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF MEASURING WEIGHT FOR AIRCRAFT
A system for weight measurement for an aircraft having a weight on wheels threshold between a flight mode and a ground mode includes a weight on wheels sensor arrangeable on a landing gear assembly of the aircraft, and a computing device receiving first detected data from the sensor related to strain on the landing gear assembly. The computing device calculates a rate of change of the strain over time to determine when the landing gear assembly reaches the weight on wheels threshold. The system also measures aircraft gross weight in a static condition.
TILTING LANDING GEAR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods for mechanically rotating an aircraft about its center-of-gravity (C.sub.G) are disclosed. The system can enable the rear, or main, landing gear to squat, while the nose landing gear raises to generate a positive angle of attack for the aircraft for takeoff or landing. The system can also enable the nose gear and main gear to return to a relatively level fuselage attitude for ground operations. The system can include one or more hydraulically linked hydraulic cylinders to control the overall height of the nose gear and the main gear. Because the hydraulic cylinders are linked, a change on the length of the nose cylinder generates a proportional, and opposite, change in the length of the main cylinder, and vice-versa. A method and control system for monitoring and controlling the relative positions of the nose gear and main gear is also disclosed.
AIRCRAFT AND AIRCRAFT CONTROL SYSTEM
An aircraft includes a frame body that includes an attaching unit on an upper portion thereof, that is formed into a frame-shape structure, and that couples an object to a lower portion thereof, the attaching unit being configured to be capable of adjusting a position in an up-down direction of the attaching unit. A main body including a flying mechanism is positioned on an upper portion of the frame body. A control unit controls a position in the up-down direction of the attaching unit such that a flying posture of the object is controlled in accordance with a posture of the flying mechanism.
Systems and methods for variable gap wireless power and communication
Systems and methods for tuning power transmission circuits may sweep a power frequency applied to a transmission coil across a plurality of frequencies. The transmission coil may be inductively coupled to a receiving coil and separated from the receiving coil by an air gap. A current and/or voltage at the transmission coil may be measured in response to the power frequency being at each frequency of the plurality of frequencies. A transmission frequency may be selected based at least in part on the measured current and/or the measured voltage.
SINGLE-LEG ROBOT MECHANISM FOR JUMPING ON A WALL AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
The disclosure discloses a single-leg robot mechanism for jumping on a wall and a control method. The mechanism includes a robot leg. A plurality of rotors is fixedly connected to a fuselage of the robot leg and is distributed in a mirror image arrangement with respect to the fuselage, and operating surfaces of the plurality of rotors are parallel to each other.
FLYING VEHICLE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An unmanned aerial vehicle according to certain embodiments generally includes a chassis, a power supply mounted to the chassis, a control system operable to receive power from the power supply, at least one rotor operable to generate lift under control of the control system, a line having one end coupled to the chassis and an opposite free end, wherein the free end is positioned below the chassis, and a severing mechanism operable to sever the line under control of the control system.
NOISE-REDUCING AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR TOW BAR FITTING
A tow bar fitting for towing an aircraft is disclosed. The tow bar fitting includes a mount, a pin support, and a tow pin. The mount includes an upper attachment and a lower attachment for affixing the tow bar fitting to a landing gear of the aircraft. The pin support extends from the mount away from the landing gear. The tow pin is positioned in the pin support such that a tow pin plane that horizontally bisects the tow pin is lower than a mount plane that horizontally bisects the upper attachment and the lower attachment when the aircraft is right-side-up on the ground.
