Modular container transport systems
11167682 · 2021-11-09 · ·

Disclosed are apparatus, systems, and methods, including a ground transport drive container comprising an outer container having a cuboid shape and comprising a plurality of fittings for securing the outer container to another apparatus; and a drive wheel assembly. The drive wheel assembly comprises one or more wheels and a deployment mechanism secured to the one or more wheels. An actuating member actuates the drive wheel assembly between a stowed configuration and one or more deployed configurations. In the stowed configuration, the drive wheel assembly is housed entirely within the outer container. In the one or more deployed configurations, the drive wheel assembly extends from the outer container.

Unmanned aerial vehicle with enhanced cargo storage

System and method for loading cargo onto an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). One embodiment is a cargo pod for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The cargo pod includes a hollow body that forms a section of a fuselage of the UAV, and further includes a latching mechanism that releasably secures the hollow body with the fuselage of the UAV.

Modular cargo handling system

Examples relate to modular cargo handling. An example system for positioning and securing cargo includes a pair of rails extending longitudinally in a parallel configuration. The system includes floor beams coupled between coupling links (e.g., sets of wheels) that removably couple to the pair of rails such that each floor beam can move along the length of the rails with less friction. Each floor beam can include one or more coupling points that can be used to secure units of cargos to the floor beams.

A cargo transport system comprising a spine assembly and a container assembly. The spine assembly comprises a rigid spine and a plurality of mounts arranged on the rigid spine in a plurality of mount rows. The container assembly comprises a plurality of containers and is secured to the spine assembly using at least a subset of the plurality of mounts. Each container of the plurality of containers comprises a plurality of fittings for securing the container to the spine assembly and/or another container of the container assembly. Each mount row extends along a width of the spine assembly, and the plurality of mount rows are spaced apart at regular distance intervals along a length of the spine.

A tie down for a cargo handling system may comprise a carriage. the carriage may include a first sidewall surface, a second sidewall surface opposite the first sidewall surface, a first surface extending from the first sidewall surface to the second sidewall surface, and a second surface opposite the first surface. A first rail interface pin may be configured to extend from the first sidewall surface. A second rail interface pin may be configured to extend from the second sidewall surface. A seat fitting channel may be formed in the carriage and may extend between the first sidewall surface and the second sidewall surface.

Systems and methods for assembling large cargo and loading it onto a cargo aircraft

Methods and systems for efficiently loading cargo transports, such as cargo aircraft, are described. The methods and systems rely upon payload profiles for various payloads where the payloads include repeatable payloads that have the same characteristics. Based on the payload profile, the payload is positioned at a designated location in an interior cargo bay of the cargo transport. The designated location is denoted by one or more pre-formed markings in the interior cargo bay that establish where a payload having the respective payload profile should be positioned in the bay. The payload can then be secured in the bay. Because the designated location accounts for centers of gravity, the payload can be loaded and secured in the bay without having to run various calculations each time a payload is loaded. Systems and methods related to how the payloads are packaged in an efficient, expeditious manner are also provided.

System and method for mounting items to an aircraft floor

An item to be secured to an aircraft floor can be secured to a Load Transfer Structure that resides under the floor, via access passages provided in selected floor panels. The Load Transfer Structure transfers the weight of the item to members of the airframe, and is designed to accommodate loads during normal flight without restricting the designed movement of the airframe; however, under abnormal conditions such as a crash, the Load Transfer Structure engages members of the airframe to transfer loads thereto to secure the item.

Systems, apparatus, and methods for detecting an environmental anomaly and initiating an enhanced automatic response using elements of a wireless node network and using sensor data from ID nodes associated with packages and environmental threshold conditions per package

An improved system detects an environmental anomaly in a shipping container and initiates a mediation response through a generated layered alert notification. The system includes sensor-based ID nodes associated with packages within the container, and a command node mounted to the container communicating with the ID nodes and an external transceiver on a vehicle transporting the container. The command node is programmed to detect sensor data from the ID nodes; compare the sensor data to package environmental thresholds in context data related to each ID node; detect the environmental anomaly when the comparison indicates an environmental condition for at least one package exceeds its environmental threshold; responsively generate a layered alert notification identifying a mediation recipient and mediation action, and establishing a mediation response priority based upon the comparison; and transmit the layered alert notification to the transceiver unit to initiate a mediation response related to the mediation action.

Described in this disclosure are methods of removing one or more battery packs from a battery bay of an electric aircraft so that a payload may be stored within the battery bay of the electric aircraft. The battery bay may be disposed within a fuselage of the electric aircraft. The payload may be loaded into the battery bay using a loading mechanism, such as a conveyor belt. Furthermore, the payload may be secured within the battery bay relative to the electric aircraft by, for example, a fastener.
