The aircraft has an airframe including first and second wings with first and second pylons coupled therebetween. A distributed thrust array is coupled to the airframe including a plurality of propulsion assemblies coupled to the first wing and a plurality of propulsion assemblies coupled to the second wing. A cargo pod is coupled between the first and second pylons. The cargo pod is rotatable between a loading configuration, substantially perpendicular to the wings and a transportation and deployment configuration, substantially parallel to the wings. A flight control system is configured to independently control each of the propulsion assemblies and to autonomously deploy a payload from the cargo pod at a desired location.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECURELY MONITORING A SHIPPING CONTAINER FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL ANOMALY

Systems and methods are described for securely monitoring a shipping container for an environmental anomaly using elements of a wireless node network of sensor-based ID nodes disposed within the container and a command node associated with the container. The method has the command node identifying which of the ID nodes are confirmed as trusted sensors based upon a security credential specific to each of the ID nodes; monitoring only the confirmed ID nodes for sensor data broadcast those ID nodes; detecting the anomaly based upon the sensor data from at least one of the confirmed ID nodes; automatically generating an alert notification related to the detected environmental anomaly for the shipping container; and transmitting the alert notification to the external transceiver to initiate a mediation response related to the detected environmental anomaly.

20220086228 · 2022-03-17 ·

An improved system detects an environmental anomaly in a shipping container and initiates a mediation response through a generated layered alert notification. The system includes sensor-based ID nodes associated with packages within the container, and a command node mounted to the container communicating with the ID nodes and an external transceiver on a vehicle transporting the container. The command node is programmed to detect sensor data from the ID nodes; compare the sensor data to package environmental thresholds in context data related to each ID node; detect the environmental anomaly when the comparison indicates an environmental condition for at least one package exceeds its environmental threshold; responsively generate a layered alert notification identifying a mediation recipient and mediation action, and establishing a mediation response priority based upon the comparison; and transmit the layered alert notification to the transceiver unit to initiate a mediation response related to the mediation action.

Retractable cargo deck entrance guide assemblies for palletized loads in cargo aircraft

Retractable guide assemblies are provided to guide cargo load pallets onto a cargo deck of a cargo aircraft, the guide assembly having a support subassembly comprising a recessed housing box, a moveable guide subassembly pivotally connected to the support subassembly so as to be pivotally moveable relative thereto, and an actuator subassembly operatively interconnecting the moveable guide subassembly and the support subassembly. The actuator subassembly may thereby allow the moveable guide subassembly to be pivotally moveable between (i) a releasably locked stowed condition, (ii) a releasably locked deployed condition and (iii) a freely moveable unlocked maintenance condition.

Structure-reinforcing cargo compartment module

A cargo compartment module for an aircraft, including at least one floor, at least one side wall that is connected to the floor, upper installation points for connecting the side wall to the main deck, in particular transverse supports of the main deck, lower installation points for connecting the side wall to frames and/or other structural elements of the aircraft, wherein the side wall has reinforcements such that the side wall in an installed state forms part of the load-bearing structure of the aircraft and/or supports the main deck.

Systems and methods for internal and external monitoring for an environmental anomaly within a shipping container with responsive reporting to an external transceiver and initiating a mediation response directly with an onboard fire

Systems and method are described for detecting and responding to an environmental anomaly in a shipping container transported by a transit vehicle having an onboard fire suppression system. Systems generally have a set of ID nodes within the container and another set outside the container, and a command node mounted to the container. The command node's processor is programmed to monitor both sets of ID nodes per their respective ID node communication profiles for unanticipated cessation of ID node broadcasting, detect an unresponsive group of ID nodes based on the monitoring, determining if the group includes ID nodes from which set of ID nodes, identifying the anomaly when the unresponsive group's size exceeds a threshold setting, generate an alert notification, and transmit the alert notification to the external transceiver or the fire suppression system directly based on an alert level setting so as to initiate different levels of mediation response.

SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND AIRCRAFT FOR MANAGING CENTER OF GRAVITY
20220097852 · 2022-03-31 ·

Systems, methods, and aircraft for managing center of gravity (CG) while transporting large cargo are described. Management of CG is achieved in many ways. In some instances, the aircraft itself is designed to assist in managing CG by providing fuel tanks that minimize the impact of fuel on the net CG of the aircraft. The fuel tanks utilize only a small amount of available volume in the wings for fuel. Disclosures related to properly managing CG while loading wind turbines onto cargo aircraft are also provided. The CG management techniques provided for herein allow for the transportation of wind turbine blades via aircraft, running counter to the typical rail or truck transportation of the same. One such management technique includes accounting for how a rotation of the blades when loading impacts the CG of the blades, and thus taking this into account when placing the blades in the aircraft.
