PROJECTION SYSTEM FOR TRANSLUCENT DISPLAYS AND METHODS OF OPERATING THEREOF
A system is provided. The system includes a translucent display positioned such that a first face is a display face and that a second face is a projection face and at least one projector configured to project an image on the second face of the translucent display. The image is displayed on the first face. The system also includes at least one sensor configured to transmit a signal when triggered and a projector controller in communication with the at least one projector and the at least one sensor. The projector controller is programmed to receive a signal from the at least one sensor and instruct the at least one projector to project at least one image on the translucent display in response to the signal from the at least one sensor.
Retention of Flight Deck Preferences
A system and method for retention of flight deck preferences operates to control a comprehensive combination of aircraft systems and system configurations enabling a pilot to seamlessly retain and recall the desired preferences based on a plurality of mission related factors. With system control of flight deck physical settings including seat position and shape, display illumination and color and internal and external lighting configurations, the system allows a pilot to save time, effort, and minimize errors of system set up and configuration. With a short entry, or short-range sensing, of the pilot ID, the pilot commands the system and method for retention of flight deck preferences to configure each of the plurality of aircraft systems according to the recalled pilot preference.
Predictive aircraft passenger cabin service system and method
Systems and methods for monitoring passenger activity in an aircraft cabin environment to predict immediate future passenger needs. The systems and methods make use of sensors positioned within an aircraft cabin environment configured to sense condition changes of objects corresponding to predetermined service issues, device(s) usable by the service crew indicating the sensed condition changes, and processing circuitry configured to receive sensor signals and indicate the condition changes through the device(s) such that the service crew is made aware of the condition changes requiring actions to be completed by the service crew to attend to the immediate future passenger needs.
GESTURE CONTROL FOR OVERHEAD BINS
A system comprises an overhead bin including a door configured to open and close an opening of the overhead bin for access to and securing of an interior space of the overhead bin. A latch mechanism operatively connects the opening of the overhead bin to the door of the overhead bin to secure the door to the opening in a closed position, and to release the door from the opening for access to the interior space. A touchless input sensor can be operatively connected to the latch mechanism and a controller can be operatively connected to the latch mechanism and the touchless input sensor.
Intelligent Aircraft Seat Belt System and Method
Seat belts, seat belt assemblies, seat belt systems, and methods for incorporating the seat belts, seat belt assemblies, and seat belt assembly systems are disclosed, with the seat belt including a seat belt locking mechanism sensor that, in tandem with a seat belt thermal sensor provides confirmatory information as to a definitive locking condition or locking state of a seat belt.
AIRCRAFT SIGN PROJECTION SYSTEM
A system for projecting a graphical element onto an interior surface of an aircraft cabin includes a first interior surface of an aircraft, a projector mounted to the first interior surface, the projector configured to output the graphical element onto a projection surface, and a controller configured to modify the graphical element based on a user input, flight condition, or aircraft interior condition.
Universal passenger service unit
A Passenger Service Unit (PSU) including an outer plate having an aperture therethrough. The outer plate has symmetry about at least one outer plate axis. The outer plate is configured to be couplable to a passenger compartment at a first position and a second position nonadjacent to the first position. The PSU also includes a first insert configured to be coupled to the outer plate and includes at least one component to be manipulated by a passenger in the passenger compartment. The first insert has symmetry about at least one insert axis and at least a portion of the first inner plate fits within the aperture. Further, the inner plate is rotatable with respect to the outer plate such that the inner plate can be coupled to the outer plate in a first orientation and a second orientation offset by substantially 180 degrees from the first orientation.
Inflight entertainment system using video object recognition to monitor seat areas and generate flight crew notifications
An object recognition computer for a vehicle includes at least one processor and at least one memory storing program code executable by the at least one processor to perform operations. The operations are configured to receive video streams from a plurality of cameras spaced apart within the vehicle and each having a field-of-view capturing at least one passenger seat. For each of the video streams, the operations retrieve from a data structure information that defines a region within video frames of the video stream where object recognition is to be performed to attempt to identify a defined object associated with the at least one passenger seat. The operations then perform object recognition limited to within the defined region to identify the defined object. Notifications can be selectively generated to passengers and/or crew based on the object recognition.
Aircraft overhead signs
An aircraft passenger service unit signage placard adapted to be retrofitted to a passenger service unit, the placard comprising at least a first signage area and a second signage area, wherein the first signage area is arranged to be illuminated by a switchable illumination means in the passenger service unit and wherein the placard comprises a first and a second layer and photoluminescent material is provided on at least one of the first and second layers of the placard in the second signage area, the second signage area having at least one first icon illuminated by the photoluminescent material such that the first icon is always illuminated in use.
Method and apparatus for detecting seatbelt compliance in commercial passenger aircraft
A seatbelt detection system detects seatbelt use in each seat of a passenger aircraft to produce safety-compliance data. A computer system, which is communicatively coupled to the seatbelt detection system, receives sensor data from a plurality of sensors in an aircraft cabin; and employ an artificial intelligence (AI) program to train on input data comprising at least one of safety compliance data, aircraft system data, cabin environment data, cabin operations data, or aircraft operations data; and the AI program is configured to minimize a summed error of predictions of seatbelt compliance.
