Proposed concepts thus aim to provide schemes, solutions, concepts, designs, methods and systems pertaining to improving the allocation of COPD patients to a remote patient monitoring, RPM, program. Patients are periodically assessed so that they are dynamically placed in an optimal RPM program for their current state of health. Patients are therefore monitored and assistance can be given where necessary. By placing patients in the optimum RPM program, burdens on both patient and the service provider are reduced.

An apparatus for estimating core body temperature of an object is provided. The apparatus may include: a first temperature sensor configured to measure a surface temperature of an object; a second temperature sensor configured to measure a surface temperature of a material, which is positioned between the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor; and a processor configured to obtain a heat flux based on the surface temperature of the object and the surface temperature of the material, configured to estimate a wrist temperature of the object based on the obtained heat flux and the surface temperature of the object, and configured to estimate core body temperature of the object based on the estimated wrist temperature of the object and a heat loss coefficient between a core and a wrist.

The sleep-monitoring cap includes a vibratory device embedded within the sleep-monitoring cap, wherein the vibratory device is connected to the interconnected electrodes. The sleep-monitoring cap includes processing circuitry embedded within the sleep-monitoring cap. The processing circuitry is configured to monitor, convert, process, and store brain wave activity retrieved by the interconnected electrodes from the person wearing the sleep-monitoring cap; determine whether the monitored brain wave activity includes low amplitude mixed-frequency waves and if so, activate the vibratory device; determine whether the monitored brain wave activity includes theta waves followed by vertex sharp waves and if so, activate the vibratory device.

A heart-rate associated with a heartbeat signal is determined. A transform is selected based on the determined heart-rate associated with the heartbeat signal and a reference heart-rate associated with a dictionary of a sparse approximation model. The transform is selected independent of other factors associated with generation of the heartbeat signal. The selected transform is applied to the dictionary of the sparse approximation model, generating an adjusted dictionary of the sparse approximation model. Anomalous heartbeats in the heartbeat signal are detected using the adjusted dictionary of the sparse approximation model.
