Apparatus and methods are described including driving a coil to apply a magnetic stimulation to a subject's brain, and receiving a magnetic-stimulation-evoked-potential signal from electrodes that are placed in contact with the subject's head. A slope of a late portion of a curve of the magnetic-stimulation-evoked-potential signal is measured. At least partially in response to detecting an indication that the slope of the late portion of the curve of the magnetic-stimulation-evoked-potential signal is below a given threshold, an output is generated that is indicative of the subject being at risk of dementia. Other applications are also described.

COLPOTOMY CUP ASSEMBLY

A medical device for performing a hysterectomy is provided. The medical device has a tissue incision assembly that includes a first cup nested within a second cup. The tissue incision assembly also includes a spacer assembly between the first cup and the second cup in order to maintain a spacing between the first and second cups. The tissue incision assembly also has a cutting implement that has a portion extending between, and movable with respect to, the first and second cups. The cutting implement can provide a circular cut guided via the spacing between the first and second cups.

Efficient fetal-maternal ECG signal separation from two maternal abdominal leads via diffusion-based channel selection

In some embodiments, techniques capable of obtaining high-quality fetal ECG (fECG) information using as few as two composite (maternal and fetal) maternal abdominal ECG (aECG) signals to derive the fetal ECG information are provided. In some embodiments, maternal ECG information and fetal ECG information are both obtained from the aECG signals, and are either presented or stored. The techniques may use novel proposed diffusion-based channel selection criteria. To validate the proposed techniques, analysis results of two publicly available databases are described, and compared with other available techniques in the literature.

System and method to enhance dream recall

The present disclosure pertains to delivering sensory stimulation to a subject during a sleep session in order to enhance dream recall. The system may detect REM sleep in the subject during a sleep session based on brain activity of the subject. The system may then deliver sensory stimulation to the subject during the sleep session. The system may deliver sensory stimulation at a frequency in a theta range of an EEG signal in order to increase theta power in the brain activity of the subject. In some embodiments, the system may modulate the intensity of the sensory stimulation according to changes in the EEG theta power associated with the subject during the sleep session. In some embodiments, an increase in EEG theta power associated with the subject may promote dream recall.
