An exemplary system includes: a laser arrangement configured to generate a laser beam, an optical arrangement configured to direct the laser beam toward exposed tooth surfaces, and a laser controller configured to control the laser beam in order to heat at least a portion of the exposed tooth surfaces to affect one or more of a mechanical property and a chemical property, wherein the exposed tooth surfaces are located within a cavity of the clear polymer aligner when worn.
SHORT-WAVE INFRARED SENSOR FOR IDENTIFYING BASED ON WATER CONTENT
An optical system operating in the near or short-wave infrared wavelength range identifies an object based on water absorption. The system comprises a light source with modulated light emitting diodes operating at wavelengths near 1090 and 1440 nanometers, corresponding to lower and higher water absorption. The system further comprises one or more wavelength selective filters and a housing that is further coupled to an electrical circuit and a processor. The detection system comprises photodetectors that are synchronized to the light source, and the detection system receives at least a portion of light reflected from the object. The system is configured to identify the object by comparing the reflected light at the first and second wavelength to generate an output value, and then comparing the output value to a threshold. The optical system may be further coupled to a wearable device or a remote sensing system with a time-of-flight sensor.
DENTAL LASING DEVICE SYSTEM AND METHOD
A diode laser system having high-power diode(s) said high-power diode(s) producing laser outputs in a range of 0.1 to 25 Watts of power using optimum wavelengths via a single optical delivery fiber.
Dental laser apparatus and method of use with interchangeable hand piece and variable foot pedal
A dental laser system for treatment of hard and/or soft tissue includes a main chamber housing optical and primary fluid supply subsystems, for directing a laser beam and fluid to a treatment area. A hand piece affixable to the main chamber, includes mating optical and secondary fluid supply subsystems. The hand piece can be rotatable or re-orientable about an optical axis within the hand piece. A lock can maintain a selectable angular orientation of the hand piece relative to the main chamber. A coupling can maintain a fluidic communication between the primary and secondary fluid supply subsystems even when the hand piece is rotated or re-oriented. A sensor and controller can sense a selected angular orientation of the hand piece and adjust the main optical subsystem according to the sensed angular orientation, to align the two optical subsystems. The laser may be controlled using a variable speed foot pedal.
METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR CLEANING OF A CANAL
The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for the cleaning of a circumferentially closed canal by means of a light guide conducting a laser beam. The entry of the laser beam into the light guide is interrupted when the free end of the light guide is outside of the canal and/or the movement of the light guide within the canal is monitored and that if there is no movement or the movement is below a threshold value then a signal is triggered and/or the laser radiation is turned off or its output is reduced.
Time-of-flight imaging and physiological measurements
A measurement system is provided with an array of laser diodes with one or more Bragg reflectors. At least a portion of the light generated by the array is configured to penetrate tissue comprising skin. A detection system configured to: measure a phase shift, and a time-of-flight, of at least a portion of the light from the array of laser diodes reflected from the tissue relative to the portion of the light generated by the array; generate one or more images of the tissue; detect oxy- or deoxy-hemoglobin in the tissue; non-invasively measure blood in blood vessels within or below a dermis layer within the skin; measure one or more physiological parameters based at least in part on the non-invasively measured blood; and measure a variation in the blood or physiological parameter over a period of time.
Dental and medical treatments and procedures
A method treating a root canal in a tooth by introducing into the pulp chamber of a tooth and pulsing a laser light into the fluid reservoir so as to disintegrate pulp within the root canal without generation of any significant heat in said liquid fluid so as to avoid elevating the temperature of any of the dentin, tooth, or other adjacent tissue more than about 5° C.
ACTIVE REMOTE SENSING SYSTEM USING TIME-OF-FLIGHT SENSOR WITH APPLICATIONS TO CAMERAS AND VEHICLE OR AIRBORNE PLATFORMS
An active remote sensing system is provided with an array of laser diodes that generate light directed to an object having one or more optical wavelengths that include at least one near-infrared wavelength between 600 nanometers and 1000 nanometers. One of the laser diodes pulses at a modulation frequency between 10 Megahertz and 1 Gigahertz and has a phase associated with the modulation frequency. A detection system includes a photo-detector, a lens, a spectral filter at an input to the photo-detector, and a processor that processes digitized signals received from the photo-detector to generate an output signal. The detection system uses a lock-in technique that synchronizes pulsing the one laser diode. The active remote sensing system is configured to be mounted on a vehicle or an airborne platform to provide distance information based on a time-of-flight measurement.
LIGHT BASED DENTAL TREATMENT DEVICE
A light-based dental treatment system includes a handle generator having a generator housing and at least one light element configured to generate therapeutic light. The handle generator includes an alignment collet having a light passage extending along a movable interior collet profile. At least one delivery shaft assembly is selectively coupled with the handle generator. The at least one delivery shaft assembly includes a delivery shaft having proximal and distal shaft profile and a proximal light port. A distal light port of the delivery shaft is configured to deliver therapeutic light from the delivery shaft to a treatment location. The interior collet profile of the alignment collet is configured to grasp the delivery shaft and align the proximal light port with the at least one light element.
