SECURE SHOPPING BAG

A security handle for a bag that holds merchandise, a bag incorporating the handle and a method of using the same. A first handle section of the security handle is secured to a first wall of the bag. A second section of the handle is folded over an upper end of the bag and is secured to a second wall of the bag that is opposite the first wall. The handle thereby closes off access to an interior compartment defined by the bag, thereby securing merchandise within the interior compartment. The handle includes a selectively removable tamper-proof opener member positioned between the first and second handle sections. The opener member is removed after delivery of the bag to a customer to allow access to interior compartment of the bag. The opener member may be a pull tab that is integrally formed with the first and second handle sections.

Self-Opening bags with attaching features
09676523 · 2017-06-13 ·

A self-opening bag includes front and real walls joined at their respective first and second side and bottom edges. The bag is folded at least once parallel to its side edges. At least one attaching feature is located on the outer surface of the bag adjacent the upper end and between the folded walls. The bag is releasably attached to a subsequent bag. The at least one attaching feature causes the bag to open as the bag is pulled from the subsequent bag. The once folded bag may be sealed at the bottom edges after folding to form a star-sealed bag bottom. The bags may be removably attached to each other at a perforation line and wound onto a compact roll for use with a bag dispenser. The bags may have an upper seam, a U-shaped cut and a pair of bag handles. The bags may be corona treated.

PACKAGING BAG AND USE OF THE PACKAGING BAG

A packaging bag includes a web having a front wall, a rear wall projecting beyond the front wall on an open top bag edge, stacking openings disposed in the section of the rear wall projecting beyond the front wall, the web being formed at least in part of paper. The front wall and the rear wall have chamfered corners at a bottom bag edge opposite the top bag edge.

Apparatus for holding a trash bag open
09663272 · 2017-05-30 ·

An apparatus for maintaining a bag in an open configuration has a base with a forward end and a rearward end, a first arm pivotally mounted to the adjacent to the rearward end of the base, and a second arm pivotally mounted adjacent to the rearward end of the base in spaced relation to the first arm. The first arm is movable between a generally horizontal first position and a second position extending at an obtuse angle with respect to said base. The second arm is movable between a generally horizontal first position and a second position extending at an obtuse angle with respect to the base. The first and second arms are adapted to receive an open end of the bag thereon. The base has a top surface that is inclined upwardly from the forward end toward the rearward end.

Bistable pull-snap hold open mechanism and method
09663271 · 2017-05-30 · ·

One embodiment relates to a bistable hold open mechanism including first and second flexible flat, strip like members positioned relative to each other. The members include opposing first and second ends; an inner mating surface; and an opposing outer bonding surface. One or more pivot members and/or hinges is integrated into the second member separating it into a side seal portion and an operable portion, the side seal portion coupled to the operable portion. Embodiments include flexures which allow the pivot members or hinges to be biased in open or closed configurations. Applying a slight pressure to the members opens the mechanism. When the mechanism reaches a predetermined point, the pivot or hinges lock, maintaining an open configuration. Closing the mechanism only requires a slight pressure be applied to the external surface of the members, resulting in the pivot members or hinges unlocking and rotating towards a closed configuration.

STORAGE BAG WITH FEATURES TO FACILITATE SEALING AND UNSEALING OF THE BAG

A storage bag includes first and second side surfaces that form an interior of the bag with an opening to the interior. A first closure profile connected to the first side surface and positioned adjacent to the opening has a top edge and includes an interlocking member that extends between first and second sides of the first closure profile forms a lip between the interlocking member and the top edge. A second closure profile connected to the second side surface and positioned adjacent to the opening of the bag has a top edge and includes an interlocking member. A first portion of the lip of the second closure profile smoothly transitions into a third portion of the lip of the second closure profile, and the third portion of the lip of the second closure profile smoothly transitions into a second portion of the lip of the second closure profile.

HOLD-OPEN DEVICE AND PACKAGE HAVING SAME
20170137161 · 2017-05-18 ·

A device for selectively retaining a package opening in a gaping configuration and a package including the device applied to a package body. The device includes a circumferential strip with side seams formed as vertical or longitudinal hinges. One or more tabs extend in a first axial direction from an upper edge of the circumferential strip at the side seams. Each tab is coupled to the circumferential strip with a horizontal or transverse hinge. The tabs are pivotable about the horizontal or transverse hinges in opposite directions away from the opening axis to respective folded-out positions, which inhibits the device from folding at the side seams and retains a gaping open configuration of the device and package. The vertical hinges include thru cuts or line of perforations that go through the entire material thickness of the circumferential strip and the one or more tabs and extend for a majority of the full axial length of the device. The horizontal hinges may be in the form of a living hinge or alternatively thru cuts or a line of perforations.

Stand-up plastic storage bag

A storage bag includes first and second sidewalls each having a top edge, a top portion, and a bottom portion. The bottom portions of the sidewalls include at least one shift region about which the bag is capable of shifting. The shift region includes a score line, an indentation, or a crimp formed into the first sidewall. The top portions of the sidewalls include a cuff line about which the bag is capable of shifting. The bag shifts (a) between (i) a flat configuration with the sidewalls positioned adjacent to each other, and (ii) a stand-up configuration with the sidewalls separated from each other. In the stand-up configuration, the bag has a substantially flat base. The bag also can be shifted to a cuffed position with the bag being folded over the cuff line of each of the sidewalls such that the cuff region forms an opening to the bag.

Bag with gripping bands

A bag and closure for a bag. The closure includes interlocking closure profiles that extend along the width of the closure and are selectively matable to close the closure or bag. The closure profiles are configured to be spaced apart from the top end of the bag. The closure further includes grip spacing formations that extend along the width of the closure. When the profiles mate, the grip spacing formations engage one another and urge opposing top end portions of the bag or closure outward to define an enlarged gap. The opposing top end portions, thus, define gripping bands that are accessible for being gripped during bag opening.
