Sample tube with integrated mixing plunger head

Disclosed herein are devices and techniques for providing for enhanced fluid mixing in a sample vial. A plunger head may be removably housed inside of a cap that is attached to a container; the cap may have an opening allowing a shaft, e.g., a probe or sipper shaft, to be inserted into the cap and into the plunger head. The shaft may be used to push the plunger head free of the cap, and then to reciprocate the plunger head within the container to mix the content. Withdrawal of the shaft may then cause the plunger head to disengage from the shaft and remain in the container.

A cap for coupling to a medical adapter may include a housing with a closed top end and an open bottom end with legs that extend from the housing away from the bottom end. Members may extend from an inner surface of the legs to engage and secure the cap to a medical adapter or an insert configured to mate with a medical adapter. A cap may include angular ridges between a cap housing and an insert to permit rotation of the cap in single direction and prevent removal of the cap from a medical adapter. A cap may include hinged legs to permit the cap to be secured to a medical adapter by rotating the legs toward each other until a portion of a collar on each leg may be matingly joined around the medical adapter.

STOPPER FOR A CONTAINER FOR USE IN FREEZE-DRYING PROCESSES, AND ASSEMBLY OF A STOPPER AND A CONTAINER
20190389630 · 2019-12-26 · ·

A stopper for a container for use in freeze-drying processes, and an assembly of a stopper and a container are provided. The stopper has an insertion section configured for insertion into the container. The insertion section has a sealing section for closing the container in a fluid-tight manner in a sealing position of the stopper and a contact section which adjoins the sealing section axially from a top surface in the direction of a bottom surface, for holding the stopper in a drying position of the stopper. The contact section has at least one passage opening for a gas exchange between an interior of the container and the surroundings of the container. The stopper has a sealing body and a main body connected together, wherein the main body consists of a material which has a higher degree of hardness than a material which makes up the sealing body. Regions of a lateral surface of the insertion section in contact with an inner surface of a container wall in the drying position and/or the sealing position, are formed by outer surfaces of the sealing body in the region of the contact section, wherein the main body is configured within the sealing body in the region of the contact section.
